Article: Abdominal Hysterectomy - Two years on and *Soooo* much better!
Well, I'm now two years on...My TAH was June 20th, 2006. I had fibroids the size of canteloupes and an enlarged uterus the size of a 22 week pregnancy (guess this was why I felt a little bloated!). I also developed really sharp abdo pains as all the internals decided to tie themsleves in knots. The TAh came as a huge suprise - within two weeks of diagnosis.
I'm now two years on and so much healthier and happier. I've recovered from the surgery, although I get the odd adhesion pull, but generally am completely recovered. I've dieted and exercised over the last year and am now fitter and healthier than I've been for the majority of my adult life. (I'm now 42 - spent my 40th in hospital - two days post op).
Hystersiters was an awesome support - the sharing of stories from around the globe really helped enormously...I had felt so alone in this journey until a friend, who'd had a hyster 6 months previous, recommended the site. I also bought a swelly belly band, which was great!!! Swear by that - and have shared it with the wife of a colleague who also had a hyster.
I'm thrilled to be 2 years on and am so very grateful for the support that came through this site.
