Article: Help - When Can I Take a Bath After Hysterectomy?
I was given conflicting post-op instructions. Two pamphlets given to me by the hospital said no bath for 2 weeks--showers only. My doctor's nurse said a bath is fine. I am a bath nut. Which is it?
Taking a bath too soon after a hysterectomy can bring about an infection. Many women have been able to take a bath after surgery, while others have waited 2 weeks before taking one. Some have even been given a bath by their nurse while they were still in the hospital a day later.
You can take a shower, even though it’s not the same as a bath. Double check with your doctor for specific instructions.
