Article: Emotional - Crying After Hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy one week ago. I seem to cry about everything. Big things and even the little things. Not just cry, sob. It's ridiculous, but I can't control it. What is wrong with me?

You can be assured that what you are feeling is very, very normal.

You have been through a lot in the past week or so. Your body has been through major surgery. Your body is tired and you are fatigued. You have pain medications in you and your hormones (whether ovaries were removed or not) are surging up and down.

Now that you are a week post-op, you might be bored but have a hard time focusing on small projects. This can be very frustrating and add to the emotional outbursts.

Try to rest more and find projects that do interest you that require only a bit of energy.

Also, you might think about talking to your doctor about the crying if it persists. Your surgeon might have some wisdom for handling the roller coaster of emotions.
