Article: Pain - Burning Sensation After Hysterectomy
I've had a normal recovery from my hysterectomy but I keep having burning sensations under my incision. My belly is not only achey, but this burning feeling is making me miserable. Has anyone else had this burning feeling?
A burning sensation is common right after your hysterectomy because of the cutting that was done internally and externally (if you had an abdominal hysterectomy) It can feel like burning or stinging sensation and is quite normal most of the time.
Some doctors have explained that the "burning site" may be related to the location of ligaments clipped from the removed organs creating the source of "burning" which is indeed cut tissue.
Just as a side note, while most women experience a normal recovery from their hysterectomy, others report taking up to several months before they feel as though they have recovered from surgery.
Sometimes our bodies just do not bounce back quickly.
It is very normal to think you are doing well, feeling good, then wake up one morning and feel awful and want to sleep all day.
The burning pain, however, could be an indication of an infection or torn stitches. Be aware of fever or other symptoms that should encourage you to call your doctor's office.
