The Princess and the Vacation

Once upon a time in the Land of Hyster, Princess Deb stood looking out across the grassy meadows to the purple hills. She had been living in the Land of Hyster for a while now and knew all the lovely sights by heart. She loved the sparkling clear streams and the blooming daffodils. She loved the orchards of apples and pears. She could sit for hours and listen to the symphony of birds performing a sonata perched on the branches of the large oak tree.

When she was new to this place, she lived near the castle, in the middle of the land. As she lived on Recovery Road she knew all the other recently punctured princesses and compared scars and gas and tummy lumps. When she could get in her car and drive hither and yon, she drove and drove. Sometimes she went too far and had to rest before she came home again. Once she was picked up by the pillow police for venturing too far and doing too much. But as the days marched on and her strength became renewed, she realized that many days and sometimes weeks went by without a thought or a notion of her life changing move when she became a Punctured Princess. In fact, where she once thought of nothing else except learning more about her new life as a hyster sister, now she thought of other things. Princess Deb looked towards the hills and was ready for a vacation!

Princess Deb, once deciding that she would take a vacation, needed to plan. She got in her car and drove to the library where she sat for many hours looking at pictures of places she could go. With an atlas in one hand, and a Rand McNally Road map in the other, with her toes she turned the pages of vacation magazines and began to dream. Disneyworld looked inviting but the vision of Mickey's ears on her head did not sound dignified or royal with any stretch of the imagination. Hawaiian beaches or Aculpulco? "Ewww" she shuddered as she thought of a bathing suit. Snow topped mountains in Alaska or Wyoming? Fireplace blazing? Hot cocoa. Sounded wonderful except she was still sneezing and coughing a bit from sudden cold.

Spending days before the open books, Princess Deb dreamed and planned. She plotted on the road maps. She hunted up "Places of Interest" on the maps. Using a lemon yellow highlighter she mapped all the places she would love to visit: Cape Canaveral. Big Ben. The Alamo. Grand Canyon. The Great Wall of China. Golden Gate Bridge. The Lourve and Mona's smile. The Smithsonian. The Sphinx. Bethleham and Jerusalem. Deb spent hours, days, weeks, months pouring over the books and maps making her plans for her vacation. She dreamed of travel. She thought of travel. She read of travel.

Sharing her plans with her hyster sisters, they were excited about her plans. They listened while she showed them the travel brochures. There eyes lit up with joy when she told them of the far away places she planned to visit. They asked questions about all the places she had marked on her maps. They asked questions about all the countries. Then, Princess Lisa asked the most important question of all: "When do you plan to go?"

"OH!" said Princess Deb. "I'm not sure at all. I've been having so much fun planning and researching I hadn't really thought about a time. In fact, as fun as it all seems, it is a bit scary to think of leaving the Land of Hyster, even for a short visit."

The thought of leaving the Land of Hyster sent her on a visit to see the king. "But think of this," the king began. "You will always belong to the Land of Hyster. No matter where you go. No matter where you live. You are a citizen of this land, a bonafide Hyster Sister, claimed by the king himself, ME! Go! Visit! Make plans! Pick one thing, pick one place and go. Then return and plan for another venture. Soon, coming and going in the Land of Hyster will be easy." The king smiled at Princess Deb as she looked up into his face. She knew it was okay to venture out into the world and see the sights. She would belong to the Land of Hyster and to the Hyster Sisters while she traveled the world.

And she lived happily ever after and was hormonally balanced forever. The End.
