Hi There, and Welcome to Hyster Sisters!

My name is Criss, a.k.a. toonces- -yes - the cat who could drive a car (but only after 3 or 4 weeks post)!

I help with Techie-Geeky website features and Hostessing on the various forums, sometimes on Post Op where my reputation as ticket-wielding Pillow Police Woman tends to precede me. I can also be found nosing around in many of the other forums, including Tech Help and Beyond the Land of Hyster.

Originally from Cambridge and Weymouth, Massachusetts, I've shuffled my way down the east coast, living in Connecticut, Virginia, and Georgia; my spaceship was last seen parked right here in sunny Florida. Can you imagine? I've had to learn the language in all 5 of these places!

I am 44, married to my wonderful and talented husband, and have no children. I have a very special place in my heart for our furry friends. I've always been somewhat of a stray cat magnet. I have 4 very sweet but precocious kittycats: Skitter, Einstein, Bruiser (Boo-Boo), and Mingus. They are shamelessly spoiled rotten. Many of my friends have told me that when they depart this world, they want to come back as one of my pets!

I enjoy music (I have been lead singer, guitarist, and keyboard player in several varieties of local bands whereby I once shared the stage with Bo Diddley and Foghat!), cooking, writing poetry, lyrics, and children's stories, greeting card verse and creation, and computing.

I've been in the telecommunications business for 21 years, primarily as training coordinator/instructor and project manager. But I have recently made a huge career change and am now a Medical Transcriptionist and loving it, although it's much, much harder than I thought it was going to be!

One day when I was in my DR's office having a routine well-woman exam, a large mass was discovered where my right ovary should have been. One week later I was in the specialist's office scheduling immediate removal of this beast (which he was now calling a tumor) for biopsy! The specialist recommended TAH/BSO. In a blindsided panic, I bolted for the internet, aiming to learn everything I could about pelvic adnexal mass and hysterectomy! This is when, by the grace of God, I found Hystersisters.com! There was so much I did not know, I didn't even know what to ask! And my specialist was a man of way too few words. I was a 'lost ball in tall weeds'. At Hystersisters.com, I read everything and anything I thought directly or remotely applied or pertained to my predicament. I was astonished at the genuine warmth and undying support I found here. Women who really understand! I wasn't alone! I melted in tears of relief. With my HysterSisters holding my hand and offering hugs galore, I was now armed with the information, support, confidence and insight I desperately needed to get through this. I got through my surgery just fine, and, thanks to my caring HysterSisters, I had a much better idea of what to expect before, during, and after my trip to the castle. Every day I am amazed all over again at the generous compassion and support we share here.

I have felt so passionate about the value of this site, I am honored to have been invited to serve as a Hostess, to be given the opportunity to give a little something back. It is now my pleasure to lend support to the Ladies In Waiting as well as those Post-Op Punctured Princesses who find themselves in or near the same place where I once was. I'll also try to help with any techie issues that arise.
