I think you all need some cheering up today! 11-30-2004 - 10:41 AM
I have to say I was getting depressed reading all the journal entries this morning. I don't have any really great news myself, so will tell you a story that happened to me a couple years ago.

DH had been badgering me to go with him to one of those big "sex" mega-marts -- sort of the WalMart of the sex industry. In a weak moment I agreed to go in with him. When we first walked in the door I was glued to his back trying to hide behind him, but it quickly dawned on me that no one in the store was making eye contact with anyone else so I didn't need to play ostrich. I have to admit that once I got over the initial shock, it was really quite interesting. I had trouble imagining how some of those items could actually be used though. . .

Anyway, we purchased a couple of the milder items, went to a movie, and got home quite late. I put our purchases away, disposed of the sack and boxes, and that was that. Next morning I got up and walked into the kitchen to find -- DS eating his cereal and reading the extremely detailed receipt that came from the adult store! I was absolutely mortified, grabbed the receipt and told him to forget everything he saw. "I'm trying really hard to do that, Mom!"

I hope today gets better for the rest of you!

Thank you for that 'lighter' entry it definitely made me chuckle and brought back some memories. DH and I once made a visit to one of those stores on vacation in Florida (no one would know us in Florida). Even though I had a couple of glasses of wine before we went I was also momentarily glued to his back, although he tried to hide behind me for a second there.

It was very interesting to say the least. We purchased a movie and fled. I did noticed that the lights in there seemed to be brighter than any store I've ever gone into. Hehe

LOL!!! Thank you so much for the much needed laugh. I have also glued myself to J's back in one of those places. The sales girl there was unbelievably friendly and helpful and I stood there mortified the entire time. It was easier the second time. LOL!

LMAO. I must ask...how old was DS at the time??

When we went to New Orleans for my birthday the beginning of the month we wound up at Scarlett's Cabaret, a strip club. Our friends we were with had been there before. We were only there about 15 minutes. DH promised he would never go to a place like that without me. It was interesting, but something I don't think I'd do again.

Heather asked how old DS was when he read our receipt from the sex store. He was probably 16 back then. Now he'll be 20 day after tomorrow. Time sure flies!
