He was really worried about this. It's really nice to know that sex doesn't suffer.

One ovary removed
I had a TAH with one ovary removed. I am only 4 weeks post op but libido is definetly up. I am still not able to have intercourse for another 2 weeks but can't wait.
Orgasims are still there. They feel different but good. Best way for me to explain them is that there is a deep throbing after in the vagina. Hope that make some sense. Anyway try not to worry. From what I have read and heard most women do not experience any changes in that area. Best of luck to you.

Loss of libido?
My libido has always been a bit on the high side ever since I turned 30! And its still just as strong now after surgery as before. We had to wait 4 weeks after surgery before we could "actually" do the deed....and man was it wonderful. I cant say if it was all was from the surgery or the fact of waiting so long but in the 8 weeks since my surgery it has been better than ever for us.
Of course we are "newlyweds" ( married for the second time in September) and that might contribute somewhat too. But as far as the desire and feelings it is even better than our post marriage days. We had only been married 6 months when I found out I had to have a TAH/BSO. I really didnt know I had any major problems going on inside me. I had some irregular periods and some mild backaches before and during it but no other symptoms at all.
I too had read that the surgery could have some adverse affects on our sex life and it was the main concern I had going into this. But if it was good before, it will be good after, if not better! So many woman had painful intercourse before their surgery and after the pain was gone, which of course makes it more enjoyable.
I was put on the Vivelle-dot patch while still in the hospital and it has worked great! I love the no hassle of it, I hate taking medication and didnt want to deal with taking a "pill" every day for the rest of my life. I had heard horror stories of trying to find the "right" HRT and I am thankful that I was lucky enough to get it right the first time.
Good luck and you are in our thoughts!
Donna

Loss of libido?
I cried the day I found out I had to have the hysterectomy. I was afraid sex wouldn't be the same. I was also terrified of the first time. Whether it would hurt, if it would work, how the orgasmn would be, would it be the same for my husband........... First time, at 7 weeks, everything worked, took it slow and easy, a little sore inside. After that, sex has been great. I can't tell any difference at all. In fact, I'd almost say it was better, if thats possible, because I had a great sex life before except I wasn't as interested as often. I think it was cause I always, was either spotting, or cramping, or bloated or something, all the time, tired too. Tell your husband not to worry. Oh, I am on the climara patch. It has worked so far.

Loss of libido?
After my hysterectomy sex was great! No more pain and bleeding all over. No more 10 day long periods.
Now after my BSO...could really care less. I'm going to talk to my Dr. about getting some Testosterone cream when I go in for my next check-up.
