Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hi all. I went to the doctor this afternoon . My urine test came out negative again. I have the doctor stumped . She took a blood test to make sure she didn't miss any infection. She also told me to try Uristat to see if that helps with the urine problem.

She said that sometimes during surgery the tube connected to the bladder sometimes gets cut. She did an ultrasound in the hospital to make sure this didn't happen.

She had no idea why I was so swollen. She just asked if I was up walking around. I am going to double check with her when she gets the blood test results back if she has any other ideas why this is happening.

I will keep you updated with the results. Thanks again for all your help.

Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hello all sisters--

I don't know where to start because I saw there are a lot of rules & regulations so, I can only speak from "MY" personal point of view.

I had a TAH/BSO on 4/4/06 and if it wasn't for my best friend that is a dr, I think I would have died from all the pain. Problems with BM for "me" was from the anesthesia, as well as the pain meds they had me on (any form of narcotic constipates)...my Gyn was not much of a help at all and I have to see him again tomorrow and I plan on asking him WHY I had to be educated by someone else and not him!

Stool softeners did help in time (2 a day in the a.m.)but, I had to eat more fiber (big key) and drink lots of water as well as changed my pain meds from Vicodin to Vicoprofen because Vicodin has acetaminophen in it and has adverse effects on my stomache, etc....I too have bladder pain and have yet to find out if there is an infection or not...I have a discharge from my urethra area and I'm hoping that the bully nurse I had didn't tear me when she took out the catheter but, part of the pain (providing I have no infection) was from the bladder being handled during surgery......

I will know more after tomorrow and I sympathize with all of you and the pain.....it's usually VERY difficult to have a bm after any surgery due to the ansthesia........

Hello worridone, First off I hope you are feeling better! I went to Dr. again today. Got another test for uti and blood test for hight white count and both came back negative. Dr. put me on Enablex which i guess is for an overactive bladder to help with the spasms. So far hasn't helped. I am to go back in a week. Dr. refuses to put me on any pain meds. so you are lucky you can get some (even if it is minor) relief. She gave me 30 lortab 5/500 when I was released from hosp. Now it is just tylenol or ibuprofen. I can believe drs. will let us suffer this much pain. I truely have empathy for those who are having this Pain. Take care ladies.

Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hi All, I just wanted to clarify some thing I stated early in this post about the IC website..."they state that almost 30% of hysterectomy paitients have some form of this" it should have said that 30% of the women in this survey said that the symptoms started after having a hysterectomy or abdominal surg. Sorry for confusion or problem this may have made I didn't mean to misguide anyone. This is still a pretty good size number and after visiting this site I don't feel i am suffering alone anymore. Thank you all God bless

Tinamarie7771,thanks for your input. I sorry to hear that your doctor didn't give you any pain medicine . I was lucky enough that my doctor doesn't feel that way. She told me that being in pain slows your healing.

I am already on Detrol LA, which is also like what your on. I just hope the doctor finds something with the blood test. I hate trying to defend myself to anyone. I am the one who is feeling this pain and sometimes I get the feeling they think it is in my head

God bless.

Was there any blood or protein in your urine? Make sure to ask. I am glad your dr. is caring about this.

How you get a resolution or answer to this soon.

Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hi all.

Just wanted to give my input on the Interstitial Cystitis as well. I was diagnosed with this horrible condition 8 years ago, and have been on permanent pain meds since. There are many treatments, however, everyone responds differently to every one. Unfortunately for me, I responded to none. Therefore, I suffer in pain every day with this (along with Fibromyalgia).

MyTAH/BSO severely aggravated the situation, and that has been by far the worst part of my recovery. Anyway, IC takes a long time to diagnose, and it seems that a lot of women have similar symptoms after a hysterectomy that eventually go away and do not actually end up being full-blown IC.

I hope this helps.

Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hello all, I just wanted to let you know that I chatted with a couple ladies on the ic boards. I information that i recieved goes right along with what freefromcysts wrote! Most of them had the same sysmptoms that we are having right after surgury. Made me feel lots better. They also suggested that we try the ic diet, which is listed on the ic homepage under "ic handbook". Helps by not irratating the bladder and bowel further. I am going to try it. I have had a the worst day yet. Another "NEW" pain..I am so sick of this, but I know things will get better. It feels like my bladder and urethra is going into a charlie horse about every 2-5 min. 10x worse than what i felt after surgery. Finally at about midnight did it go away. The worst 6 hours of my life. Whew...I hope that will never happen again!! After going through all of this I realize how truely blessed I am, being healthy, for the most part, all my life. I definatley will look a people in a different way.Thank you all super people for your thoughts and compassion. God bless

Feet,legs Swollen & Pain when I pee

Hi all. My doctor office finally called me this morning. All tests came back negative . At 5 weeks, I feel like I should be ready to bounce off the walls and ready to face life again. But instead I feel like garbage and beginning to feel like my dh thinks this pain is in my head.

I have been blessed to have my mom here to help out with everything. I feel so bad that she still has to be here. At this point in the game, she should be planning her trip home instead of wondering when all my pain is going to stop.

The Uristat that the doctor recommended did help with going to the bathroom.

They told me to elevate my legs with pillows when I am sitting down to avoid the swelling. They didn't give me any reasons why this was happening.

I still feel a really bad burning :burning: in my left side especially when I stand up. My asthma doctor told me to stop taking the Motrin because that could be causing my asthma attacks. He told me to switch to extra strength Tylenol but not to take it more than four times a day. How do you try to get off the pain pills if you can only take the Tylenol four times? Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks ladies for all your input. It has really helped to keep my sanity.
