Any 4 weekers that had TVH

Just wondering how the 4 weekers are doing? I think I have been doing way too much, haven't been feeling to good this past week. Actually started taking my percocet again. Been really crampy feeling. Since I got home from the castle, I have not changed the way I do things ( still cleaning house, taxiing kids around, making meals, and I even mopped the whole house the other day ) I think my body is turning on me now, it's telling me to take it easy, but how, when you have three kids and a husband to take care of? Everybody thinks that since you can't see that I had surgery that I'm good to go, no reason for me to be "relaxing".

Hi! Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well . I had my surgery a little earlier than you, but thought I would post anyway. Sounds like you are doing a lot! Maybe it would help if you reminded your family that you just had MAJOR surgery and that you need their help. Remember you only have one chance to heal correctly. That being said, I have two teenage boys and a DH who works his fanny off almost every day of the week, so I can understand where you are coming from. I dealt with it this way--I didn't take care of them. Laundry built up, the kids ate cereal from disposable bowls and drank water when they drank all the soda and juice in the house, dog hair was everywhere, the toilet was gross, so on and so on--you can just imagine. Then after the first THREE weeks (yes, it took them that long) they all got sick of it and started doing things around the house. I have done nothing more than put a few dishes in the dishwasher and fold clean laundry that was brought upstairs to me. Had they not gotten sick of living in filth then my house would still be gross and we would all be waiting until Wed. for my 6-week checkup. So I say get in bed, girlfriend, and let them fend for themselves because if you mess up your healing this time what will they all do when you have to have corrective surgery? Best of luck to you and remember to pamper the princess!

Hello, I'm a 4-weeker, too. Having the TVH and no visible scars makes it easy for people to forget you had major surgery. I've struggled with my family not doing enough because I seem to look normal. I just sat back and let things lie undone! You need to stress to your family that you've overdone it and you need a break or you'll be back in the hospital. Please pamper yourself if possible! The crampiness will go away if you rest.

I had my TVH April 11, 2006 and just wanted to let you know that up until this past Thursday, I was experiencing the same as you (crampiness). It does seem to happen when you overdo it. However, the last two days have been great. I feel almost normal again, lol. Good luck.

Amen Roonie! Good Advice. I have posted this advice before, but I will again. A good article to read is about adhesions. Go to the left side of this page to the purple area and click on Articles, then go down and click on Post op articles and then go to the second one down, Adhesions. Read the article, and especially the last two paragraphs. You do not want to have to deal with adhesions and have to have more surgery in the future. Heal right the first time. Have your family read this with you. I read it to my husband and he has been wonderful. Take care!

Any 4 weekers that had TVH

HI, I am new here and dont even know if I'm doing this right! But I am 2wks po from TVH ( took everything out), and I think I've been doing everything wrong as I read everyone's posts. I feel utterly stupid, and I'm a nurse!!! My worst times seem to be when I first wake up in AM, pain is tremendous, feel like insides are gonna fall out, suspect possible bladder infection, BM's hurt, cant seem to get comfortable, and so fatigued! Like you I'm driving kids to activities, and wont take pain meds when I know I'm gonna have to drive for obvious reasons, afraid of running out of Percocet! I feel like I'm lost, and dont know what to take seriously, and what not to spaz over! Strange pains, all kinds, dull, sudden, sharp, different places, bladder region, butt muscles, rectal, groin, lower back...... whats serious and whats not??? Can anyone help? Thanks for any help, I joined this board because everyone seems so knowlegeable....... Thank You!

I had a TVH and am also finding it hard to restrict myself because I am getting some of my energy back. My body tends to remind me when I overdo it though. I also am having odd pains that seem to roam around and are achy and sometimes sharp. The past couple of days the pain feels like pulling in the vagina area. I'm hoping this means I am healing and that the pain will go away soon. Feels good to be getting some of my energy back though and notice with each day I feel a bit stronger. Hang in there everyone and take care of yourself!

Thanks so much! You are one of the first replies I've had, and I appreciate the encouraging words! I, too hope that those weird vag.pains are a sign of the healing process. Keep our fingers crossed! Keep in touch! Thanks a million.

LeeLee07,
Being a nurse you probably know this, but be careful how much you do. When you think about what they did during the vaginal hyst., no wonder there is still some pain going on. I had major pain in my hips from the surgery and being in "the" position so long during surgery. If you had your cervix removed, remember, the vaginal cuff stitches heal at a much slower rate. The fatigue will get better. I still seem to crash in the afternoons, belly will feel a bit swollen, but not hardly any pain anymore. Most of my pain came from the A&P Repair and perenium repair. For about three to four weeks, I would get these pains in different places and dr. told me that as healing progresses, the nerve endings are waking up and reconnecting. I guess that makes sense. Anyway, keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Welcome to the site!!
ps. After first week I had a dr. appt. I told him I wasn't sure I would ever feel the same I hurt so bad. He told me by my six week check I would be happy I had hyst. and I really am!!
