Sandy I know how you feel. I was in bed for 11 days almost straight. I just finally got the ok from my doctor that I could sit for long periods of time. I can get drinks for myself as long as they are on top shelves and other things I did not do before. Still heeding the warnings and laying down when I feel them. But, it is like I am ALIVE again! hehehe I can handle the not doing other things for myself now. I shall be very patient with that and wait..

My doctor has told me not to drive for 4 weeks. Yours said 3? I have some small things I would like to do but am not going to try them until 4 weeks. Even though the urge is irresistable..

Hang it there. Your half-way if your looking at a 6 week recoup time. For me I am taking the full 8 weeks.. hehee

Hugs,

Michelle

I am at 3 weeks too, i feel the same way! I am ready to feel better, it gets me down at times because i feel like i should be taking care of my kids and hubby instead of them taking care of me. I get to drive this week, !! Looking forward to it, even if riding in the car sometimes hurts.

driving

i to couldnt wait to drive so what a disapointment it was for me to have so much pain when i did, bt i guess its gonna take this old body some more time, i think it bothers me to because after all the other ops i have had i am right back up. of course other than two babys and some biopsy never really had anything taken out before. not this time it seems lie it is taking forever. :sing: Sandy

Oh, I remember feeling SO frustrated with being tired and achy at 3 weeks!

I hate to tell you this, but this is the time when you need to be the MOST careful. Between 3 and 5 weeks post-op, all your internal sutures (you have countless...) will be dissolving. This means all those poor tissues and ligaments that were cut and stitched have to start holding themselves together again without any support - ouch!

Don't be surprised if you feel even MORE achy and tired for the next week or so. It happens to most of us, as our bodies try to learn how to hold themselves together again.

Please be careful, because this is the time you can do internal damage by doing too much!

Hang in there - this will all be over soon!

I'm 5 1/2 weeks post-op right now. At 3 weeks, I wanted to do everything, butmy body was saying no too. Remember - your internal organs have a long way to go - so quick feeling guilty. Inform your family more so they will continue to help.
Driving at 3 weeks was difficult for me too, but it got better with each passing day. Now it's no problem at all, and I know it's because I've slowly increased my activity every day. Start walking a bit, and walk a bit more every day - it builds your stamina and strength.
We women are too hard on ourselves. We're so domestic and maternal, that we feel guilty when we can't tend to daily duties. Continue to take it easy or you'll end up hurting yourself.
Believe me, that if you do - in a nother 2 or 3 weeks, you'll feel great. I actually did all my housework 3 days ago (except vacuuming)!!! What an accomplishment - hope this info helps.

Phew! Answered my questions, too!

Great! I don't have to ask if its normal to feel ouchies in the car on bumps at 3 weeks. Yay! I was starting to wonder if I was healing right - the first week I could do anything but now that I'm 19 days post op I'm so sore in the belly - I thought for sure I would be doing backflips by now (just kidding).

Glad to hear I'm not the only one .... this must be that 3 Week Wall I hear so much about.

Pam
