Reports and Photos

Hi ladies! I had posted a question about the surgery reports the other day. Thanks to all who answered me. I now know that it's something I'll have to ask for if I decide I want to read it. Another question. I often see people talking about photos. Do all doctors photograph the uterus and/or fibroids during these surgeries? My doctor never mentioned any photos so I was just wondering if that's done sometimes, or at the request of the patient, or if maybe some doctors take photos all the time. Thanks in advance!

My gyn. didn't say anything about pictures and I didn't ask...just wanted to see my reports. Think others have gotten pictures though. You might try doing a search on keyword "pictures" and/or "photos".

I think it might depend on the doctor. Mine did take pictures, but I DIDN'T want to see them. I just wanted my report.

I asked her why she took them and she said it gave visuals for the insurance company. (Can you imagine having that job?)

If you're interested, just ask your doctor if you can see them. From what I understand, doctors don't seem to mind showing them to patients upon request.

In MY situation I asked for pics to be taken and brought along a camera with me to the surgery. I haven't gotten the film developed yet though. LOL

It sounds like SOME doctors do take pics on their own though so if you are wanting to see a pic- you might try asking your dr if he took pics. Also had to ask my dr for a copy of the surgical/path report and his office was glad to give me a copy when I went in at 2wks post op.
