Eye mask a must...ear plugs a plus!

I had a TVH on Monday, 3/26. The single-most valued thing I took with me to the hospital and USED was my eye mask . Once admitted to my hospital room after my surgery, all I wanted to do was sleep. They kept me VERY well medicated, but they had to turn the lights on every time they needed to check, poke or prod. I kept my eye mask on and barely woke during their "visits."

The ear plugs helped me sleep through the day, but I found I was easily startled when they touched me to let me know they were there to take bp, etc. Since home, I put them in right before everyone gets home in the afternoon and things get noisy around the house.

I took a book and several magazines, but couldn't have begun to read due to the drugs I was on on Monday. By Tuesday morning, I was out of the fog and was able to flip through a fashion mag. I wasn't really able to focus enough to read until they stopped the dilotid and started the percocet. I still get a percocet fog, but it only lasts an hour or so.

Hope all goes well for those about to go to the castle. You are in my prayers!
