Question about Cervical Cap?

Hello Ladies,

I have been wondering something.

I asked my doc if she closes up my 'opening' up there after they remove the cervix and uterus, she said, she does a 'cervical cap'.

I have had no bleeding, no disharge, no problems whatsoever since my surgery. I am wondering, is this 'cervical cap' something that only some doctors do and if so, is it a tangable thing that she sews in there or is that just the name the doc gives to the way they sew it closed??

If some docs DON'T do this cervical cap, then is there just a big gaping hole up there?? That doesn't seem very safe to me. But I have heard women talk about their bladders falling into the vagina etc...are those women who have nothing sewn up there to prevent that?

I know this is a strange topic, but I am so curious.

I am so curious. I don't have an appointment with her until over a week from now and the curiosity has both my husband and I just baffled!!

Question about Cervical Cap?

Call the doctor's office and ask how the cervical cap procedure works. They'll be able to tell you or have someone call you back who can.

When things fall into the vagina, it just means the pelvic "floor" gives way and there's no strength in the tissue that separates the organs. So your bladder leans against the vaginal wall and you can feel it there, or the rectum leans against the vaginal wall and you can really feel stools through the wall as if they were in the vagina. When there's no pelvic floor support, the bladder and bowel can't work right. It's not tha things dive into the vagina from the top.
