What's the shoulder pain from? (TAH/oophorectomy)
Just had TAH and oopherectomy tuesday. Agree with waiting was the worst. Nasty cramping first night in hospital, but abated with Toradol and percoset. Not much of an appetite, just applesauce and jello (YUM). Home today and much less pain since passing gas and taking a bit of senekot. Am due to start .625 premarin today..we'll see. So far so good. What's the shoulder pain from? Anyone know?

What's the shoulder pain from? (TAH/oophorectomy)
It could be gas trapped in your shoulder or it could be from your arms being straight out and strapped down for the duration of the surgery. If it is from the gas being trapped there it will go away in time, your body has to absorb it.

That achy feeling will drive you nuts. Walking does help a bit. I think mine hurt for a few days after surgery.
Hope you feel better!

shoulder pain issue
Aware is right on track with this one, two weeks ago I had emergency surgery for a cyst on my left ovary.. The night I had surgery my family was with me and everyone started worrying because I was in severe pain up through my sternum, felt like I was having a heart attack, but wrong area, left shoulder to be exact. My wonderful nurse explained it was just trapped gas and that walking would help decrease it, and it did. But i never had anything like that after my hysterectomy..wierd, huh?? Take care..

I was told (can't remember by who) that it was from the trapped gas putting pressure on a nerve. I had it in the right shoulder but it faded once I was passing gas.
Good luck on your recovery.

I had ALOT of trapped gas in my ribcage, shoulder, etc. I have one little bubble left that I can feel when I lay a certain way, etc. It's getting better tho!

I feel a bit bad for saying this...but chest or more particularly shoulder pain is sometimes referred pain from gas trapped in the abdomen, the same way it can also indicate an appendix problem...not gas in the actual shoulder itself. This could just be how you were positioned or perhaps you slept in that position too long.
