Swelly Belly now at 11 days post-op??

I had a TVH, TVT and A&P Repair along with a vaginal vault suspension on June 11th. My recovery is going well with minimal pain and for the most part I am doing great. Well today after I took a shower I got dressed and I could barely pull my pants up. My stomach is so swollen I look 5-6 months pregnant. THe top of my stomach is hard and the skin feels tight. OUCH!!! I can't even get comfortable. I know this isn't constipation because I have been going regularly for a week. But now all of a sudden this new symptom starts. Is this swelly belly? ANd if so can is start this late post-op? The only other symptoms I have noticed that I have been having is that I have been more tired and get winded very easily (especially after I shower)... is this normal?? Any advice would be appreciated

Perhaps your stitches are beginning to dissolve. That can sometimes cause swelling as that happens. If you're experiencing new pain though you should consult your doctor. As far as the tiredness, I remember showers sometimes being my biggest plan for the day. Take care!

Re: Swelly Belly now at 11 days post-op??

Hi Dawn

While I can wear my regular clothes(size 8's fit better than my size 6's), I have noticed tho that they do seem a bit tight around the belly. I think I still have a bit of swelly belly too. Do you have an abdominal binder? It helps A LOT to wear under your clothes! It kinda helps to hold you in and it supports you while you are up walking around. If you don't have one I highly reccommend getting one. They are great!!!!!

to you!!!!!

Re: Swelly Belly now at 11 days post-op??

yes, my swelling started later and went on for months and months.

And I agree with cmtsp, the first 2 weeks or so all I would manage would be a shower and clean clothes once a day. I would wash my hair but just pulled it back in a ponytail and let it go.

The tiredness went on for a long time (but I have some other health issues also and am not in the best of shape either).

I'm still glad I had the surgery though

Re: Swelly Belly now at 11 days post-op??

Thanks Ladies for your advice.

Lisa, I don't have an abdominal binder... I honestly didn't think I would need one especially since my surgery was done vaginally. Oh well, I guess I was wrong!

Skipper, It is good to know that the swelly belly can start later on. It just seemed to start out of the blue. I too have a ton of other medical issues (fibromyalgia and blood clotting disorders to name a few) and I know probably some of the tiredness is from the fibromyalgia but I can't even seem to do little things now without getting out of breath. Like today I was folding some laundry (DH carried it) and just doing that made me out of breath. Pretty crazy, huh?

I just feel like a big baby. I know I am only 12 days post op but I feel like I should be able to do more already. Know what I mean??
