Abdominal incision open and bleeding

My 2 week check up was this past Tuesday. My wound had healed nicely...no scabs...all healed. WELL...today, I woke up and thought I had wet the bed. Come to find out, my incision had opened and was bleeding. There was blood EVERYWGERE!!! SO after having a compression bandage on it for and hour, we went to the ER. 4 hours later, the ER doc felt that I had an infection. I had TONS of pressure yesterday and the pressure found a way to be relieved!! I stopped bleeding while at the hospital, however started bleeding again tonight. I am on antibiotics and new pain meds...

Anyone experience this??

Re: Abdominal incision open and bleeding

I haven't experienced this with my TAH but I did when I had a breast reduction 4 years ago. I was about 6 weeks post op and an area opened up and started draining a lot ( not blood, but pink fluid). The fluid has to find a way out. My doctor took a swab of the fluid to grow a culture. It was staph. I am glad he did a culture so we were sure of what antibiotic to use.

I hope things get better soon.

Take care and be cautious! I haven't had this, but it sounds like a good thing you headed for the ER... hope you feel better soon.
