5 Week Post-Op insomnia

I've been back to work for three weeks now and I sleep a lot better. On the days that I don't have time to get eight hours of sleep, I tend to have more energy than I would before the hysterectomy. My sleep pattern isn't exactly normal but it is getting better over time. Overall I feel much better since I had the hysterectomy.

Good grief, I'm just about 1 week post op and I've posted a message like this to the gals in my recovery board. So far I'm the only one with insomnia in the group. Was hoping it'd get better. Been blaming it on not finding a comfortable position to sleep in yet. Sure hope this won't last weeks and weeks like some of you poor gals. I'm glad I found this post. At least I don't feel alone. Hope we can all get some good rest and soon.

I'm at 5 1/2 weeks post op and I haven't slept through the entire night since surgery. I've been taking ambien for about the last 3 weeks - it helped a lot at first, but now when I take it, it takes about one hour before it kicks in. Then I get 4-5 hours of sleep and I'm awake. I get so sleepy in the afternoon - but if I try to nap, I never fall asleep. How long will this last??? I'm on estrogen and progesterone and don't really have any other menopausal symptoms so I'm not sure it's hormonal. It's really getting old (and making me feel old).
