Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I didn't have external stitches, I got the superglue treatment. But one of my belly incisions has a stitch sticking out. I am not terribly worried they are suppose to be self dissolving. Glad your surgery went well. Mine was pretty easy too. I am going on 3 weeks this thursday and couldn't be feeling better. Well, I can still feel that I had surgery, but physically I am doing great.

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

So I posted last week saying how great everything has been and how I have not had much if any spotting. Well, I am 4 weeks post op (Monday) and since Sunday, I have had "spotting" every time I go to the bathroom. Not enough to wear a pad, but every time I wipe, there is dark pinkish, like watered down blood, on the paper. I am not sure if this is normal. It seems like poking around this site, most people who have any kind of spotting and have called the doc report that the doc says not to worry unless they are soaking a pad, which I definately would not be. Part of me also wonders if this is from, umm, "outercourse"? DH and I have played around a couple of times (NO penetration!) and it seems like every time, I have this spotting the next day (I told him this time he is cut off until I see the doc next week!). Could having an "O" be causing me to spot?

So, I guess I am wondering, if any of you are having this type of "spotting" at week 4??? (I have no cervix, but do have my ovaries.)

Go see your doctor THIS week and have her check the vaginal cuff to make sure there isn't a slow leak of peritonial fluid (water.) Ask her to poke at the cuff with a long swab and make sure that you're not bleeding from there. I just got mine checked a few days ago. We tore my cuff open having intercourse at 5 weeks post-op. I am 6 weeks post-op from a vaginal cuff emergency repair. I asked my doc to really poke around and make sure that the cuff is holding this time. It doesn't hurt to check it out, better safe than sorry.

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I had my surgery 10/21, took everything except left ovary. I have to say this feeling is amazing! Not waking up every day in pain is a miracle! i haven't had any bleeding since i left the hospital until monday. For 3 days now i've had pink discharge when wiping in the evening. Had my 2 week post op today, my gyn said everything looks great, cleared to go back to work tomorrow but im going back Monday and she lifted all restrictions except of course for the "nothing in the vagina" rule. Just told me to take it slow and my body will tell me when i've done too much. Good luck to everyone! Remember everyone heals at different speeds, but one thing my gyn had me do was take a daily multivitamin and a daily vitamin C, says it helps with healing...and energy.

Thank you for making me check up on this. I did call my doc. office today and he called me back. I explained to him what was going on and he said he believes that my vaginal cuff is finally begining to close up and that is the reason for the watery pink fluid when I wipe. He said it is not uncommon and can last for 1-2 months. I am scheduled to see him in one week and he didn't seem to think there was any reason to come in before then. But, thank you, per your advice, I am glad I did call them to put my mind at ease, as this is the 4th day and it is still showing every time I pee!

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I had my surgery on 11/06 and am feeling better than expected. I agree that the Da Vinci can give false sense of security if you rush your recovery. We hate to take it easy because we have to rely on others to do everything, and that's hard, at least for me. I had an ovary removed last year and no robot was used, it really makes a difference. I had more pain and discomfort than with the LAVH.

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I had mine on Sept. 9th and am still recovering. I still have to take pain medicines and have had some major setbacks during this recovery. I agree this was the way to go because if I had done another type,I would probably still be in the hospital. My body reacts very badly to any kind of major stress like surgery and it just takes me a lot longer than some people to recover. Don't worry if you are taking longer than some of the people on this post. I am probably one of the slowest healers you might ever meet. Good luck with your recovery.

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I'm one week post op. Surg on 11/5.
I felt great in the hospital. Up walking around that evening. A couple of strolls in the hallway. Had a minor appetite. Wanted the pain meds and didnt sleep but overall comfy. Small amount of bleeding.
No bleeding since I have been home. Went off narcotic pain meds about 4 days in...mostly didn't like the feeling, the nightmares, the lack of consistent sleep. Maintaining on 800mg motrin every 6 hrs, along with stool softner (both of which doc presribes for 30 days after surg) and gas x.
I would say the majority of my pain comes from GAS! Sometimes I can't believe how much it hurts. I have been walking each day and as of yesterday have resumed my normal sleep schedule with an hour nap in the morn and the afternoon.
I called the doc at 3 days post op because I had this weird indentation on my lower right incision. She said it was how the stiches were settling into the tissue?? Okay. That is where most of my pain is.
BM's have been happening since day 2 post op. Prunes, applesauce, juice and the whole bit help. Walking! Now they are happening without much pain.
Urination was difficult at first. I had the catheter until about 24 hrs after the surgery. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. It took relaxation and concentration to go but over time it has been back to normal.

I think for me recovering from the ansethia has been the most difficult. I have a history of lots of fatigue from it. SO I am trying to walk more and more each day and push on without to much effort.
My doc has recommened 4-6 weeks off work. Day 3 I felt guilty for staying home from work but by end of day I realized that I still needed rest!

I'm glad I did it. Just ready for each day forward.

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I had my da vinci on 9/18 and feel as normal as before, and can do anything I want. This has been the easiest experience and easiest recovery from surgery I can believe. it's amazing!

Re: Other DiVinci patients....

I am glad so many people recover so fast. I have to say that I am glad I had the daVinci because if it takes this long with that I would hate to think how long it would have been for me with any other procedure. I have had multiple little setbacks that caused slower recovery
