Re: some help please!!

5mg ativan- nerves

I laughed when I saw this on this thread this morning. Last night, I could not sleep, was feeling incredibly restless and nerved up, when I remembered that my doc has prescribed me Ativan for a plane ride last winter.

I didn't need them for the plane ride, but one sure did the trick last night. Slept like a baby and woke up feeling pretty good today.

I think a lot of my anxiety is due to the upcoming surgery, but I also just quit smoking and I'm sure that is adding to it as well.

Re: some help please!!

I'm having a TAH on Nov. 17th too! I've got a post on here under " TAH on Nov. 17th and I'm scared". I have been talking with some of our hyster sisters, and have a lot of tips on that post. Good luck with your surgery! I'm right there with you! Literally!

Re: some help please!!

Before my TAH/BOS I focused on getting things in order before I went in for surgery. Did a lot of heavy housecleaning b/c I knew I couldn't after surgery, made sure all the laundry was done, cleaned out the fridge to make room for groceries while I was out, packed my hospital bag, and at work I did a lot to make sure that everything would run smoothly while I was out.

Don't listen to anyone who starts telling you negative stories. My mother-in-law was sure to tell me how bad it was going to be and how I would gain weight after my surgery. I lost 2 lbs. and my stomach is flatter now than before, and I feel better than I have in years. No moodiness, crying episodes, etc.

Re: some help please!!

Jakers,
I'm a bundle of nerves too. I'm scheduled for Nov. 17th as well (TAB/BSO), so you'll be in my prayers. The hyster sisters have all been wonderful on offering advice. Listen to their words, because they know what they are talking about. God gives us what he knows we can handle, so this is just one of life's journeys that will make us stronger. Take care and again, you'll be in my prayers.

My suggestions-

If you are comforted by the belief in God, then turn this over to God knowing that God wants you to be healed and whole and is there with you and will be there with the medical staff.

Try visualizing yourself having a perfect surgery and recovery.

Breathe deeply as often as you can. Meditate, listen to soothing music and try to relax.

Finally, keep posting and reading here. There are many success stories and lots of women doing very well post-op. I am one of them!

Best wishes.
Trusting and Believing in God will calm you down more than anything that a dr. prescribe. I totally believe that. It doesn't take much faith only that of a mustard seed. You all that are waiting for surgery will be just fine. As Peppermint says breathing deeply as often as you can is very calming.

I'll be praying for you all
