I like the way you put that. I also feel like I was gutted like a fish because I had the TAH (large vertical incision) even though I didn't lose everything (kept ovaries).

My surgery was the day before yours and tomorrow will be 7 weeks since mine. I go back for my last post-op visit on Wednesday. I have to say I'm doing a lot better than I thought at this point. I'm finally back in my jeans as of this weekend but I have to wear them in short spurts and change as soon as I get home from anywhere. I don't have so much swelly belly anymore unless I'm on my feet for a long time. I'm a stay at home mom and I'm glad I don't have to face going back to work.

Best of luck with your continuing recovery.

Well I had my last post op today - was told "good to go" for all activities. My doctor even said "hey, shovel snow and mow the lawn" - NOT - but the exam was very uncomfortable so I'm not sure about sex yet even if I am healed.

Well ladies,

I am no longer bleeding and the pain is subsiding. My little baby grew up over my recovery time - he's 24 weeks/5.5 months and 6.78kgs or 14lbs 15ounces so I get quite tired from hauling him around.

I am still breastfeeding. Am still on ABs, and don't see the gyno for another week. Still wearing maternity jeans and will have to start losing weight soon.

It's getting hot here - prediction of 32*C (about 90*F) for Saturday I think so I'll have to loose weight.

I'm 7 weeks post op today. The spotting finally stopped during the weekend. So I guess, I'm all good now. I'm trying to do a sparring class at taekwondo tomorrow. I've been working out about 10 to 12 hours a week since week 3 but just the thought of someone kicking my stomach makes me hurt. But it might be all psychological. Dunno.

Hello Sisters! I haven't written for a while because I'm back to work now - full time. All is well, except I think my computer bag and stuff is a little too heavy, had some pain this morning when I got to work. I take the subway and walk about 4 blocks to the office. This is only my 3rd day back, and I really want a nap around 3pm. But I'm glad I've been cleared to resume all normal activity, just being careful about lifting and bending. I have 2 problems though. First, because my ovaries went with the uterus, I'm having all the menopause symptoms, especially hot flashes. My DR has prescribed an estrogen patch, but after 3 weeks, it hasn't helped at all. I should probably call her but am wondering if anyone else is having these problems. The other thing is that I was bleeding so heavily and for so long before my operation (almost 6 months continuous), that my husband is having "problems" I think, getting back in the mood. I guess it's hard for him to think of me again as his romantic leading lady, since I was out of commission for so long. And who can blame him? For so long, whenever he looked at me, all he could see was pain and blood! And then for the last 6 weeks, well, not having to go to work everyday, I did get in the habit of not dressing up anymore, not much makeup, if any, you know. So now I'm trying to look more appealing, I bought some new nightgowns, and of course, I'm showering him with love and attention. But so far, he kisses me good night and rolls over. I'm hoping we won't have to go into counseling because of this, and I'm praying that we can come together again soon. Any suggestions are welcome! I wish you all the best as we reach our 7 and 8 week post-op markers!

i had my robotic total hyst on 9/14 and am finally getting back to normal too. About your hormones I highly recommend you find a dr that does the true bioidenticals. She/He will probably do saliva testing to see where your hormones are now. You also need to be on bioidentical progesterone cream.
It made a huge difference for me.
About your husband - I really don't know what to say. My post op appointment is tomorrow and my husband is like a kid in a candy store with anticipation. We have done other things to love each other to pass the time. You need to talk to him about this.

HI - 7 weeks today from TAH - I have been back at work for almost a week. Still get really tired at the end of the workday but I have been pushing through. I never had any bleeding after the surgery so I can't commet on any of the others who seem to have been bleeding since the surgery. I lost ovaries, tubes, uterus & cervix - luckily, no real symptoms - my hot flashes and night sweats were worst BEFORE the surgery (I am 51 was peri menopause) -

Saw the doctor yesterday - he gave me the clear for sex but honestly, the exam was so uncomfortable I can't imagine how sex will feel - I might give it another week or two.

Hi Systers! 7 wks today since my TLH BSO. It dawned on me this morning that I really haven't had any pain for the last week. I still get sore if I over do but that's it. I've been back at work full time since Oct 23rd and I'm still very tired when I get home. My main complaint is insomnia. I have been taking benadryl but it no longer seems to help. Last night I tried Melatonin. I still woke up several times but I was able to fall back asleep. I pray that this doesn't last too long!

Take care Ladies! Thanks so much for all your support!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 14-Sep 20,2009

Hi. ladies. It was 7 weeks since my surgery yesterday and I am feeling just fine. I'm still having some very light pinkish spotting that I wish would go away but I'm not having any pain at all. I went for my final post-op visit today and the exam didn't really bother me at all. My doctor says the spotting is from a stitch that isn't completely healed but it's not infected or looking bad so no silver nitrate. I am to come back in 2 months if the spotting does not stop before then. He gave me the all clear to do whatever I wanted - so glad I don't have to be so careful all the time and can keep my house clean now. My hubby and step son cleaned for me but they just don't do it as well as me. Plus, I can pick up my little boy and hold him without any fear of it hurting me and that's such a relief. So glad to be doing so well because I really didn't think I'd feel this good when I was recovering in the hospital.

I've already had sex twice because my doctor cleared me for that about a week and a half ago and of course, my hubby was delighted for the "all clear." I, too, was terrified but it actually was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. I was so scared it would be just awful.

I sure don't miss that dreadful time of month one bit and am so glad it's gone forever!

I hope all of you get wonderful post-op reports as well!

Hello My Sisters

Just wanted to check on all to see how they were doing. Tuesday will be my 8 wk post from surgery date. I had an extra week for the no no sex rule when I had my check up on the 30th of October. My week was up on today. But DH still wants to waiting another week or two. I will return to work on the 16th, not looking forward to that, I will be going back doing extra work. I feel great, cleaned up my house today, did not get tired like I thought I would. I drove for he first time on Tuesday since my surgery, no problems.

TAH - kept ovaries
