Don't put too much emphasis on the sex. I believe it will return in time and you still have issues going on and need to heal more.
I didn't feel like having sex and still don't. Not only are we still healing our hormones are also adjusting as well. I just thought DH and I should do a trial run. He is exhausted from working overtime and I am not feeling like it. I believe it will return in time.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Practice orgasming on your own and see what you discover.
My uterus was so full of fibroids it wasn't contracting anymore during orgasm so I noticed they were different all this year pre op.
I have been wearing the belly band and I swear it is hurting me. I am in increasingly more discomfort.
Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 07-Sep 13,2009
Yesterday, I saw a colleague of my doctors due to a mix up with scheduling. He did an exam to make sure everything was healing well and he said that it appears everything has healed. He is wondering if my Crohn's is causing some of the sore muscles. I am now back to work full time which means I am doing a lot more than before. He also got me an appointment with the surgeon in two weeks to see what he thinks about hrt. He said usually it is recommended that you wait six months to starve the endometriosis of estrogen but that in cases where the menopause symptoms are severe, they may try some form of estrogen. He felt the surgeon needs to make the decision. I was a little bummed out due to the persistent insomnia. He is trying a low dose of Ambien to help me get through this and also said if this doesn't
work, to try Tylenol pm or benadryl. I am feeling better but sometimes I still need pain meds. He said that the setback I had is probably causing
some of the continuing pain problems and that it should improve. If it doesn't then he said to see my primary to figure out what is happening. He wasn't concerned about me having to use the pain medicine so I guess I won't worry either.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I think I'll try to get some extra sleep tonight and take it easy tomorrow to try to let myself heal.

Am I the only one not on any kind of HRT from this group?
Nothing new to report- rain rain an more of the same. Feeling fine with occasional aches. My cyst is getting smaller but hurts. I ignore it in hopes it will just get absorbed by my body!
Hope to work on more personal things tonight and hoping for the best!
BH has been a little under the weather.
Kisses to all and have a great weekend.

No HRT for me, Tina. I did keep one ovary so I am hoping that will be my saving grace from all that. So far so good. I did have HORRIBLE hot flashes in the hospital and thought for sure I was doomed but those went away and I have been fine since (knock on wood). I hope your personal affairs went well
Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 07-Sep 13,2009
I'm not on any HRT's either. I'll probably need them some time down the road since both my ovaries where taken, but I seem to be doing fine without them.
Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Sep 07-Sep 13,2009
Tina,
I am also not currently on hrt. I have not been doing well without it. Unfortunately, when I saw the doctor, the office screwed up and didn't have me see the surgeon. Now I have two weeks until I see my surgeon. He is more liberal with hrt than the other doctors and he had said he would prescribe it without waiting for six months. I understand the rationale of six months but my body doesn't. If it were only hot flashes, I would be able to cope. It is the insomnia, mood swings, and having times where I feel like I am in a fog that I don't like. I knew I would be in surgical menopause prior to the surgery just didn't think it would be bad. I did get a good nights sleep last night (thanks to small dose of Ambien) so am feeling a little better. According to the doctor, everything is healing well so that was a relief. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hey,
Had surgery 10/30/09. Can't sleep and I am every hour or 2 going to the bathroom. Had my staples removed 11/5/09 and Dr. said I had a bladder infection from the cathedar. I pray for sleep.

Hi Tina:
No HRT here, either. I went through menopause 2-3 years ago and it was so mild, I nearly missed it. I think I had perhaps two hot flashes in the entire process and found them more annoying than anything else. I didn't keep my ovaries, but since I had such an easy menopause, I saw no reason to start HRT now. The subject never came up with my doctor and she released me completely last Monday.

Aside from the standard cranberry juice, you might try AZO (phenazopyridine) for symptom relief. You can purchase it over the counter at most drugstores.
