Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 12-Oct 18,2009

end of week #1 back to work here for me - Monday & Tuesday I felt tired but slept SO well at night. Wednesday & Thursday I felt great all day - even went to the grocery store yesterday afternoon and came home & cooked dinner. A little tired today but nothing huge - glad it's the weekend however!

Although my first week home after surgery was rocky, I've been feeling better and better each day. I know I'm bouncing back really quickly, and wish I could share it with all of you.

I'm down about 12 pounds (almost 2 pant sizes) - no bowel issues - no gas, lots of BMs - just a lingering sore throat. Had fried shrimp for dinner tonight - tasted GREAT but now my throat is pretty miserable although I came home & took my magic mouthwash.

I have 8 stitches on the outside - took 4 out last night but the 4 at my belly button aren't quite ready to go.

today is 3 weeks post-op, I'm having some pain - posted a new thread about it because it's just enough to have me concerned. Right now I'm doped up on Percocets and feeling nauseous and miserable...

Other than that one thing I've been doing pretty good...

Hi,

3 weeks post op today and feeling really good. Saw consultant last night with my results. He said I had a 9cm cyst on my left ovary and a 5.5 cm one on my right ovary so he was glad i had agreed to have them both removed and the good news is that all was benign

He was happy with my incision and apologsed for having to ruin my belly button piercing but hey ho I can live without that if all else is good.

I haven`t made decision on HRT as yet I feel I need to research the pros and cons - your views would be greatly appreciated I have to have genetic testing in the new year as we have the breast cancer gene in the family so am hoping to decide after the result of that.

I read all your threads and hope to offer some help, I use a pillow between my legs to help to get comfy on my side to sleep it seems to take the pressure off and i still take occasssional pain killers as and when needed.

I hope you are all healing well and getting adequate rest.

Beautiful weather here today, too, and I went for a little walk to the bakery. It was closed! So annoying, as I really had a hankering for a fresh danish. For the record, I am also still taking occasional pain killers. It definitely hurts more when I do more, so those of you having pain, do be sure to take it easy (though admittedly sometimes have pain when just lying around too - just need to wait it out - it will get better!).

I had my TVH on Oct. 15th. I started out having just a light brown discharge, now it's been watery for a couple of weeks, clear. When I turn over at night, I feel kind of a gush, not much. I've worn a mini pad ever since the surgery. I had my 2 wk checkup and she said everything was healing nicely.

WIgal-you might need to work on some therapy for that fear- just to help you over that hump. I know that had to be awfully scary for you! (By the way, I am in WI too).
Hang in there. Do you do crossword puzzles? I have just started doing them and LOVE it- they get you out of your head. Is there a series you have always wanted to catch up on? Now is the time- or start a hobby, like I cross stitch. So on he days I have no oomph, I am making some quickie bookmarks for Christmas tags.

I have had horrible cramps all night, FINALLY went to the bathroom. I am somehwat concerned, because I literally feel like I am going to pass out before I do go. The pain from the cramps will bring me to my knees and hubby said I went white as a sheet. I see the doc on Friday, I will ask then....and keep praying.
I want you ladies to know, that I start my day, with gratitude for all of you here and keep all of you in my prayers.
Those with complications, hang in there- this too shall pass; this is my mantra lately.
Just think, we will all be new when the New Year comes around!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 12-Oct 18,2009

good news on the cysts iluvanimals! I had an 8-10cm cyst on my right ovary - this was the reason for the surgery - they were worried about ovarian cancer - like you, all my biopsies were clean.

I had to choose how to have the cyst come out - they could cut me like having an appendix out and just take the ovary & cyst - OR LAVH - more surgery but less recovery time. I think I made the right choice.

the doctor offered to take the left ovary too - which is fine right now - he said there was a 20% chance of it getting a cyst too. So there's an 80% chance it it will be fine?? I said leave it in.

Msbg121>>>

I had ovarian cystectomy when I was 21 ( now 43) and again at 37.Both times bikini incisions.

USS found the 9cm cyst on right ovary but no mention of the one on the left till after surgery.

So I must`ve been very prone to them, glad your results are clear too its a luvly relief.

I had vertical incison as was woried about the big cyst popping ???????????

perhaps I should have got second opinion ?????

(((ladies)))

As a further reminder ~ if you have any questions or concerns about your recovery, then please start a new thread so that all our post-op members can see it and have the opportunity to respond, instead hiding your concerns and limiting any possible response to just the tiny number who choose to post here. Those who have been through the recovery process, and have a wealth of experience to share, cannot reply on this thread to answer your questions. With over 178,000 members, a new thread of your own is the best way to get support and replies ~ and how the site works. Without those threads, we wouldn’t have a Post-Op Support Forum!

To start a new thread, just click on the “New Topic” button which is located at the top and bottom left of the main forum page, or by clicking HERE. It's very important that we keep all questions in thread titles, which guide our visitors and members to the information they are seeking. Just imagine if ((you)) had to search through the millions of posts for hidden questions and any replies ...

Please note this thread is intended for personal progress reports only ~ check out Princess Bea Well's introductory post for further instructions.

Sending all good wishes for your recoveries and many thanks for your co-operation in keeping the site organised for all!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Oct 12-Oct 18,2009

Well I was doing great until Friday night. Hubby had an anxiety attack so we ended up in the ER for him: we were there until 2:30 AM, I was either pacing on the hard floor or sitting in a hard plastic chair. I was in absolute agony by the time we left. I've been having issues with insomnia ANYWAY so I was pretty much up all night!!!

Yesterday I felt like I had a hangover all day and was trying not to be mad at hubby (for mixing meds and alcohol and triggering an anxiety attack) - AND then he was feeling good enough to spend all day Saturday working on his stupid car while I was confined to the sofa feeling like I'd gone 8 rounds with a prize fighter!!!! It was gorgeous outside and I didn't feel like walking. I was really mad about that too. It's like it can never be All About Me - someone else always needs me to be there for them.....

Still feeling like crud today but trying to relax...
