My pre op is scheduled for 2 days before my surgery and i'm afraid that something might go wrong and it can't be fixed before surgery. My bp is high but it's under control with meds. I also had a dental infection last week and on antibiotics. What do they look for on these pre op test? kinda scared, i've come too close to be postponed by something stupid. Thanks for the advice sisters.
I had bloodwork, chest xray and vitals taken. I assume they check your white bloodcell count and look for infection. Perhaps you should call your doctor and discuss this with him/her. While I'm sure you don't want to postpone your surgery, it is probably also not a good idea to have it if you have an infection. Than again, the infection could be cleared up by the 17th.
I had blood work and EKG. When they went throught the medical history with me, they asked lots of questions about medications and anesthesiology. I had a cavity that had to be taken care of before surgery so I would have any problems with absess or infection.
They gave me pre-op instructions for the 2 days before and covered the do's and don'ts for after my surgery.
A pre-op nurse called me on the phone and ask a lot of questions about my medical history. She determined that I did not need to have an EKG. I was told what day I had to go to the hospital and get a blood test. She went over what I was not allowed to take and my pre-op preps that I had to do at home. That is all there was to it for me.
