back to work

My Dr said I could go back to work in 6 weeks. I do some heavy lifting in my job and I am afraid to start back so soon. She said she would put me on a light duty schedule. How long should that be for or is that up to me and how I am feeling?

back to work

6 weeks is kinda early for heavy lifting in my opinion. Ask the dr to keep you out longer. If your job is like most peoples, once you are back you are back!! People tend to forget you are on a light schedule and you end up doing more than you should. My dr was great, he originally gave me 8 weeks and then extended it to 10 weeks because he thought it best to heal a little longer before I returned. Not all dr's are so understanding I wish you luck getting more time to recover. If you don't, please take it easy! Ann

back to work

Cheryl - I agree with Ann. Six weeks post is too early to start heavy lifting. JMHO I went back to work 4 hours a day at 7 weeks and was sore and exhausted at the end of each day...and do NO lifting. Can you get a few more weeks off...then start back on light duty???
