back to work

So today was my first day back to work. The dr. and all my friends warned me I would be tired but I was not ready for just how tired. By late morning I was almost in tears I was so exhausted. Never mind all the computer issues I had to deal with right off the bat. I texted my hubby I wanted to come home so badly. I was even wondering if I would make it home at all before taking a nap.
I wasn't looking forward to going back to work on a Friday but now I'm glad I did...I have 2 days to recoup before I have to start all over again.

Re: back to work

Hi there. I can totally empathize with you. Going back to work was the hardest part for me of the whole ordeal. I was very tired and overwhelmed and had a very hard time adjusting to things again. It took me several more months to regain my energy.

I encourage you to take it slowly if you can and lean on your coworkers for support. Being tired makes everything seem so hard (like your computer problems) so take frequent breaks and lots of deep breaths!

I wish you all the best and hope next week is better.

Re: back to work

I went back to my part time job at 4 weeks but now I have to go back to my full time job on Monday. I'm so nervous about having to do my full time job 7:30 -4 then my part time job 5-930 for 3 to 4 days a week. I guess on the days I work only the full time I'll been in bed by 5. With DH in the construction field and two kids in college I just have to try and keep at it.

I hope this tired thing passes fast.

Re: back to work

Going back to work was rough on me too. I expected to be tired, but was surprised by how much discomfort returned. I've been back 3 weeks now. The first two weeks I took Wed. off to get a midweek rest. I'll be glad when I return to "normal".

Rest up this weekend!

Re: back to work

I'm going to go back on Monday (3-1/2 weeks post-op) for half-days, and just see how it goes. I'm definitely scared about going back. Originally I'd planned to go back yesterday, but glad I amended that. Went out on a date with my husband tonight and turned on my blackberry; instantly 160 messages downloaded, and that was just from the past three days!

One of my fellow managers doesn't quite get it--he keeps trying to schedule me into meetings for the minute I get back, and keeps sending me meeting notices for 2 and 3 p.m....I plan to be back home napping right about then!

Glad to be able to vent here among others experiencing the same issues, though!!! Sounds like it might be rough going at first from what others have experienced.

Cindy, hope things get better and that your energy level is up soon. Sounds like a good plan to rest over the weekend.

Re: back to work

The day I went back and heard all I was to do that day I actually had tears running down my face from being overwhelmed----and I never cry. I was just exhausted that first 2 days---but no pain. After that I guess I got used to the pace of work but still rested a lot when I got home. It gets better, but rest whenever you can.

Re: back to work

After 4 weeks at home, I went back for half days for 3 additional weeks. I highly recommend this. I was able to walk in the mornings and nap in the afternoons. I begin full time next Monday and feel that I am up to it now. You need to put your energy into healing, not giving it all to the office. Good luck.

Re: back to work

I really wish I had the option of 1/2 days for a week or so. I even would have went back a week early if I could have. I am so exhausted today and really have nothing to show for it except that I went back to work yesterday.
