pelvic pressure

I'm wondering if any one is experiencing the same pain I'm having. I have heavy pressure in my pelvic. The doc believes it's coming from my uterus. I have an enlarged uterus but the doc can't find any other reason for the pain and pressure. The pressure started about 9 months ago but it was only a week or so before my period but now I have the pressure/pain all the time. I like to tell people that I feel like I'm carry a bowling ball in my pelvic area. Sometimes it's a 2 pound ball other times it's a 10 pound ball. Walking and standing seem to make it worse but it even hurts when I'm sitting. I'm scheduled for surgery on July 16. The doc is planning on doing a TVH. I'm wondering if this is going to help. Also at the same time the pressure/pain started I started having 15-20 day long periods. They're not heavy, just long lasting.

I'm curious to know what tests your doctor has done to determine what is going on with your uterus. A hysterectomy is a major surgery, so I would want to know what condition(s) it is an effort to cure before agreeing to have one.

There are never any guarantees that a hysterectomy will take care of our problems, so I encourage you to get a second (or even third or fourth) opinion if necessary. Even if all the doctors agree that a hysterectomy is the best option for you, hearing it explained in several different ways might be very reassuring and informative for you.
