Tlh

I woke up from my Novasure proceedure today to be told it didn't happen. While I was still waking up, I agreed to a hysterectomy and signed the consent forms. It is a blur.
I haven't had any discussion with my obgyn about it, but it is my only option left.
I am schedualed for Thurs. Sept. 2nd. I have most of the information I need from reading here today, but would love more support.
If you had a tlh, how did it go? Anything I really need to know?
And please, I have seen swelly belly referred to, but not really discussed, fill in the blanks for me??
Thanks

Re: Tlh

Fun~ welcome! There will be others along soon to introduce themselves and offer support, etc.

You are going in shortly before I am, and we are scheduled for the same procedure.

I went in in May asking for Novasure, but was told flat out it was not a good option for the issues I have. Since I am primarily worried about anesthesia, it made more sense to go ahead and get the problems fixed instead of attempting a procedure that the surgeon did not feel was a good option for me.

Swelly belly is a term that refers to the swelling in the abdominal area after surgery. Some women experience it more than others, and it seems to be more prominent with procedures involving larger incisions. Some women have it for many weeks, while others have very little, if any.

Re: Tlh

I intend to come back after I have mine, so I'll let you know how it goes.
I was a perfect candidate for novasure. I was so relieved when I was waking up, the disappointment was huge. I can not wait to have all the dread gone (and the periods), and be waking up relieved again.

Re: Tlh

fun -

I am glad that you found us.

If you haven't already, look at the Hystectomy Checkpoints in the upper left side of the screen. They contain some pre-op information.

Thee is also a Pre-Op menu with articles and information. If you look on the right of the screen you will see an Events menu which lists dates & times of pre-op chats. Many members have found this informative.
