Will I ever feel normal again?

Yesterday was my hysterversary. One whole year. I had my SAH because I nearly bled to death after my baby girl was born--had uterine atony and placenta accreta. I just want to feel normal again. I'm only 25 and feel like I'm 80 years old. Lately, I am really hating my body--not just because I can't have any more children, but also because it's not what it used to be.

I am an active person. Being active anymore is really difficult. I enjoy running, biking, and heavy weight lifting. I curbed my sugar addiction and love living a mostly sugar-free life. But I am forty pounds heavier than my normal weight and there isn't a thing I can do to shed the weight. I feel much more tired than I used to--not to mention the lack of motivation to do anything! I also try to be a mom to my two wonderful children. It's all really hard.

Someone with experience. . . please tell me I will eventually adjust and that my weight will slowly decrease and I won't feel tired anymore. I am NOT going to do any HRT, even though I qualify. Thyroid was normal in January of this year.

Please . . . tell me my body will eventually adjust! I'm getting so behind on school and my family life!

Re: Will I ever feel normal again?

I had my hysterectomy April 2008 for the same reason. I remember things were still difficult for longer than a year. For a long time there wasn't a day I didn't think about it. I'm doing so much better now. My ovaries were left but did fail. The lack of estrogen was causing me greater anxiety. I am now on a HRT patch (as of 4 days ago). It does get better. I'm 35 so a bit older but still young especially for the menopause. Hang in there.

Re: Will I ever feel normal again?

Am 35 and a working mom. I had TAH in mid Nov 2011 with ovaries removed and had had very mentally down thinking of early menopause. Now am on HRT (Premarin .625mg) and calcium pills and it does help me being active and stay healthy. Please consider taking HRT as our body need to replace the lost hormones. Me myself try to stay healthy and focusing on raising kids and nurturing whatever left!

Strongbee, I also had TAH w ovaries removed in mid Nov 2011 and I don't think I am doing nearly as well as you are! My doc said 6 week recovery and it has been nearly 8 weeks and I still have abdominal pain/discomfort often. I am not on HRT so maybe that is why I'm not doing as well. I'm 47 working mom who has been an athlete my whole life. Was in excellent shape pre surgery but have not been able to get back to working out or running yet bc of abdominal pain/discomfort and general feeling that my guts are going to spill out. Do you still have feelings in abdomen like this? Trying to figure out if I am unusual re: recovery time or if my expectations for a 6 week recovery were too high!

Re: Will I ever feel normal again?

Strongbee, I had a complete hysterectomy Aug 2011, have beenon biodenticals, estrace, and angeliq. I cannot seem to get balanced ans was thinking about going on Premarin. Are you still doing well on it? Have you gained any weight or feel bloated?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
