Question - Does this end?? Does this end??

I'm on the final month of my last lupron injection. The last 5 months were hell. The pain got worse 2 days after my first one. I was told it would get worse then would stop but it never really did. Then I was told it would stop my period. In 5 months I've had 8 periods. Some were just a day and others for almost 2 weeks and not even them slowing down over time. I had my lap back in aug when we found out I had endo and my one ovary was removed. It was covered in scar tissue from several cyst ruptures(??) As well as endo. I am scheduled for a full hysterectomy to remove the endo but also stop the cysts since my right ovary is now in the same boat, and combined with a few other problems. I'm ok with the surgery and I have looked at all other avenues and still feel it's the right choice but what do I do in the meantime with the pain? I'm overweight from quiting smoking combined with stress and lupron. My dr wants me to lose weight before the surgery but even walking for short spurts makes it flare up and I'm right back to taking more pain meds. Is there a way around this? I don't like being a lazy mom who is hurting so bad from a 15 min walk I can't get off the couch to make dinner. I was just taking them at night since all the days activities would get me to that point and a lot of nights, I wouldn't take anything at all but now and for the last 4 weeks its been everyday. It starts off not so bad in the am but by 12 I have to take something. By the time I get home, even with pain meds I'm usually ordering out so I don't have to cook and laying on the couch. Its affecting my concentration, I have constant diarrhea and heartburn and now my job. Is there anything that can be done vs downing more pills? I only have a month to go.

Re: Does this end??

I'm so sorry. :-( When is your hysterectomy scheduled for? And are they going to take your remaining ovary or just your uterus? Have you been diagnosed with Adenomyosis as well as Endemetriosis?? Sorry - lots of questions. It does seem like the pain from both Endo and Adeno are very consuming and that they both progressively get worse throughout the day. I usually am feeling moderate pain when I wake up in the morning, but am hunched over and very uncomfortable by the evening hours. :-/ I'm actually curious as well about ways to manage the pain as I've tried going the more natural route: ibuprophen, tylenol and following the Endemetriosis Diet...none of that has worked. Good luck to you - I hope you can find some relief!

Does this end??

Don't be sorry. The questions are fine. It helps us get better answers. I was only diagnosed with endo. I'm not sure what the other is. Knowing everything going on, I wouldn't be surprised I have that too. She is going to remove everything. She also is doing a pannicuectomy, and removing endo from my bladder and colon. I originally said I was going to wait till June when it was more convenient for my schedule. Then I moved it to april when I realized the lupron want helping. Now it has become do unbearable I had it moved to march 6th. I would have it sooner except my work would fire me since I have no fmla time back till then.
I have tried the diet and I've been taken ibprofen for so long, anytime I do, my stomach turns into a knot and I have stomach cramps and heartburn. I've gone the route of tylonol and then she gave me vicodin. I have been taking it for months. I hate it. I feel like some pill popper. It helps take edge off the pain. If I can, sometimes taking a hot bath and soaking helps, like a heating pad but really its just lay down for an hour and don't move helps the most. I have a 4&5 yr old so its not really an option.
I know what your talking about, it gradually getting worse during the day. If I go to the grocery store, or take the boys out, walk at work, do laundry, or anything that requires me to move for more than 30 minutes, it does not hurt at the time but within the hour the pain will jump and it takes forever to get on to of it. Does this sound the same for you? I wish you the best of luck.

Re: Does this end??

Adenomyosis is the build up of "stuff" in your uterine wall...within the actual muscles. You can actually search for forums on this site and might be able to figure out if that sounds like you. The only cure is a hysterectomy...so the good news is that if you do have it, you should be no longer affected by it after your surgery. That's a big YAY, right? :-) I was diagnosed with both Endo and Adeno and am not sure which is causing the most pain.

Yes, our stories sound very similar - I too have young children (7,6 and 2) and am constantly on the go...but by the end of the day, my bloating and discomfort is awful. :/ I too have taken so much ibuprophen that I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer last year - try my hardest to avoid it at all costs now...the Endo diet was a last resort (I'm very athletic and work-out hard so I can enjoy my food...hated to give that up!). I still follow it faithfully, although I'm not seeing much change in pain. :-/

I'm anxious to hear how you're doing after your surgery - just one more month!! Hang in there girl, hopefully before long you'll feel like a new woman!

Re: Does this end??

I have the same problem with ibuprofin. Instead of being on a narcotic, my doctor prescribed Celebrex. It helps when my pain flares with menstruation and ovulation.

What helped me the most after my lap to remove endo and then the return of the pain was the endo diet. I removed soy, gluten dairy, beef, alcohol, chocolate with soy or dairy, and almost all caffeine. I have stuck to this for over 6 months and it has reduced the pain enough to make it manageable. There are days I don't have pain and some days that I can't make it to work. The diet has made the good days more than bad days.

I hope you are able to find something that eases your pain.

Laura
