DaVinci Hysterectomy

Well, I should have posted this much sooner, but better late than never.

Years ago I had a gallbladder surgery which entailed opening me up from stem to stern. I was young, (thought I was strong and healthy) and the recovery was my worst nightmare. In the hospital 21 days, and fully months before I was myself again. I know a hysterectomy is not the same surgery, but I was terrified to ever undergo the knife again. My onc surgeon kept reassuring me this time would be very different, but if it wasn't for the cancer diagnosis I would have probably fought with my life not to have surgery. Instead, I prayed that he could do it (he wouldn't be sure until surgery day because of scar tissue that might impede his progress)

I had complete hysterectomy Sept 2011 by DaVinci method. I must tell you that I was completely shocked by how quickly I felt good. It was just unbelievable. Not that there was no pain or discomfort, but it was so minimal compared to previous surgery. I was up and walking (slowly, of course but better than being dragged across the floor by 2 nurses!) within a day. I did not walk all bent over because of stitches, and each day was a little better than the one before.

While I can't say everyone would have this success, if you are given a choice I'd strongly consider the DaVinci method in the hands of a capable surgeon. It was the right choice for me
