everything different

OK, maybe not everything.
But I worry more.
Simple meds I've taken before like antibiotics seem to affect me differently.
Not sleeping as well.
Life annoyances become major.

Anybody else?
My gynecologist says for me to cope with things until they drastically start to affect life and then let him know.

Re: everything different

Yes, cold and allergy medicines affect me differently now and so do pain relievers. The body changes as we age. I take less of these medications now if I need them. I take supplements, calcium plus D, multivitamin, fish oil, probiotic, and CoQ10.

I find healthier diet ,no junk foods and exercise to help things .

My goal is not to take medications unless absolutely necessary as they all have so many side effects.

My doctor prescribed acid reflux drugs for me and I had more problems with that, so now I watch what I eat and I feel better, less problems over all.

I hope you can adjust to changes your body is going through.

How do you feel when your GYN says...."cope with things until things are drastic?" (It was concerning to me)

Having a hysterectomy can de-rail a woman's life. It can change almost everything including even how a woman metabolizes foods or medications.
For me, my system is much more sensitive since my hysterectomy. Everything is now just different and examples are...my pain tolerance, my concentration, frustration level, sleep, bowel habits, my energy level, and deal with anxiety and depression...which I never had before. It has be a challenge to adapt to this new body and mind which quite frankly seems almost like a total stranger at times! To help me cope better I had to find and align myself with more empathetic and compassionate Drs.

Re: everything different

I don't really consider him and my GP unsympathetic, but ultimately it gets down to me on deciding when it's time. I'm single and it seems like everything is just down to me these days, which is scary sometimes.

Re: everything different

My gyn also told me to try to cope with surgical menopause best I could until it got unbearable and then she would start me on Effexor. She is very kind, she just made it clear that if I could avoid going on Effexor for hot flashes and mood swings, it would be preferable, I think in the sense it's always preferable to avoid taking a drug if you can do ok without it.

I don't sleep as well, I wake up with what I think are night sweats, and I find I have a shorter fuse at times. Guess it's all par for the course - I also feel older and like I've lost my youthfulness somewhat. I think a lot of it is mind over matter, and I am really trying to keep that perspective. The reasons I had everything taken out were good ones, so I try to focus on the positives (doesn't always work, but am trying)!

Hopefully these feelings will pass relatively soon for all of us. Take care
