Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP

I am 6.5 weeks post op from having my LSH. With only having my uterus removed and after pathology I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis and have since felt fantastic. However, last week I started experiencing some pain on my left side and during intercourse it felt like my cervix was going to come through my eyeballs. I have also had pain in that same area off and on since then. I did contact my doctor and have an appointment for Thursday. In the meantime, I would like to hear from others that may have had to have there cervix removed after having a hysterectomy.

I opted to keep my cervix because I have never had abnormal paps and also because of the bladder/sexual problems that "could" happen.

Has anyone had to have a trachelectomy (cervix removal) after having an LSH? What was the recovery like and any info you may have. I dont know for sure I will need this but I also can't find any good info on the internet.

Re: Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP

I'm having a Trachelectomy on 4/27/12 after a year of suffering extreme pelvic pain. My doctor completely blew me off after compaining many times that something was wrong. He sent me to another doctor in his group for a 2nd opinion who did his best to make me feel mentally insane. Meanwhile, my BP spikes all the time and I've been in so much pain that I called the funeral home to plan my funeral!

My PCP finally hooked me up with a awesome specialist who immediately told me does not believe in leaving the cervix in. My surgery is upcoming and, like you, I've been trying to get a opinion from another Hystersister on what to expect. The new doctor told me I'll be out of work for 7 weeks.

Hopefully it wont be as bad as 1st hysterectomy since both ovaries were originally removed with uterus.

Can't wait to hear back from you. Please oh please!

Re: Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP

Hello Sisters,

I had a Trachelectomy on March 20, 2012. I also had an LSH-BSO back in Dec. 2011. I experienced extreme pain following my cervix removal. I am not saying yours will be the same. I went straight home after the surgery instead of staying in hospital. (financial reasons!! I wouldn't recomend it!!) I am still in pain and it has been 5 weeks now!! All I have to say is take it slow and easy!! And if you are offered help, take it!! And when they say don't lift anything over 10lbs, believe them. It hurts terribly if you try! (I know from experience!) I am also dealing with 2 prolapses thanks to the surgery! But I hope you all take it easy and heal well!! Sending you

Unhappy - Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP Re: Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP

Ohhh Nooo! That's horrible new's. I go for me Trachelectomy pre-op tomorrow. I'm so sorry to hear about this. What the heck is left to prolapse? I thought they sewed the vaginal cuff to something inside... I didn't know the vaginal canal could prolapse after this. I have felt like it and my sigmoid have been trying to come oout and am hoping the surgery will prevent that (and get rid of my pain). I am going to accept help and ask for help; although, it's difficult because I'm a widow and any help is far,few and in between. My son is 11 and is so OVER me being sickly. This has got to work.

They did the Trachelectomy on your pretty soon after your LSH. At 3 months I was still suffering from the LSH itself. The doctor just kept blowing me off. Who finally suggested the Trachelectomy to you? Was it necessary as in your cervix was trying to prolapse? Any and all tidbits you can offer, I would very much appreciate. I'm scared to death.

The doctor had put me on ERT 6 weeks after my LSH and that brought the Endo. back. He suggested going back in for the cervix and to remove any remaining endo. (I wanted to keep my cervix because of a quicker recovery; but it didn't work out in the end) When he did go in, he said the cervix was really swollen and he also removed a bunch of scar tissue or adhesions. The part of me that is prolapsing are: my rectum and my bladder has fallen into my vaginal opening. This is causing me a great deal of pain. Plus the other day I lifted something way too heavy and it made the bladder prolapse even worse. Just remember to not lift anything over 10lbs until you get clearance!! You can also recruite some of your friends to help. I have done this; but I have found by the 3rd surgery people are less likely to offer help. Oh well!! I hope you aren't too freaked out or scared. Have faith in your doctors decision!! I call my doctor on monday and hope to get in to see him sooner than friday. I really need to find out why I am in so much pain still!! Well over a 10 for the last 3 days!! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask or send me a private message!! I'll keep you in my prayers!! I have to go rest on the couch now!!

Re: Trachelectomy (cervix removal) after LSH???? HELP

I had a trachelectomy and BSO a year and a half after an LSH (3/8/12). I had endometriosis and adenomyosis. I was still expereiencing a mini-period monthly along with pain. Overall, I have been doing well. I have been experiencing some spotting lately but other than that, I feel wonderful.
