I did not keep my ovaries because they where the main reason I had to have the hysterectomy.

I had both ovaries removed. They had endometriosis and cysts. The left ovary also had endosalpingiosis.

Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

The Dr. and I decided that if she went in and the right ovary looked ok, she would keep it. She said it is always best to keep everything if you can but since I had a six inch cyst that was blocking our view from the MRI it was a surprise and relief to know when I woke up she was able to keep one.

I was able to keep both ovaries. With a cyst being removed from 1 ovary. I don't want to borrow trouble but I hope it doesn't reoccur later on

I'm a cancer survivor. It is my opinion that if the garden isn't there, the weeds won't grow! No chance of ovarian cancer when I have no ovaries!

Thumbs up - If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries? Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

I had to have everything taken. My ovaries were the first thing to discuss removing due to the constant recurrence of large ovarian cysts (I developed as many as a dozen a month!) & the fact that I was also constantly having cysts rupture. I'd had a cluster of about 8-10 removed from right in July, and by October, both were covered again to the point dr couldn't actually see the ovaries, only the cysts. When discussing removing those, dr & I decided that w/my uterus also being covered in fibroids, best to do it all at once. I was 32, no kids. Still best decision I ever made. I'm soooooo much healthier since surgery.
