how old were you when you had your first mammogram?

Girl, I say find a doctor who will do what you want and need done! You are your best and really only advocate! I've never heard of a doctor go against what the ACS says about hereditary...that's unprofessional to me. I would research your area, ask friends, get recommendations. You have to trust your doctors. I know that my old boss whose mother died of breast cancer had her first mammogram at 30 instead of 40. Good luck!

I was 30 - as a baseline and a precaution. My mother had just passed away from cancer. The doctors couldn’t tell from where it had originated and thought it may have been in the breast.

I had my first at the age of 20

31 because of a lump in my breast. I go back to the surgeon in a few weeks to book the excisional biopsy. I am hoping it is a fibroadenoma as the hysterectomy was enough for now.

I get one Aug 29 and I am 37. I already have had an ultrasound where they found a hard mass tumour and I am now getting a bilateral diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound and then, two days later, a breast biopsy.

I was suppose to have one done at 37 but after hearing all the horrid stories about having your breast put in a vice I did not have my 1st one until I was 43

I had my first at the age of 26...about a year after my hysterectomy. doctor said my lumps were hormone related. but i keep a very close eye on them.
