Re: Abdomen Binder

what is this abdomen binder?? I assume it is not the three-ring one for school but something like an elastic underwear?

Re: Abdomen Binder

It is a an elastic band that velcros shut. It is like a very wide belt.

Re: Abdomen Binder

Thanks ...but I dunno to me that sounds like it would hurt? Aren't we supposed to wear loose fitting stuff...or is that only in the beginning...

Re: Abdomen Binder

You do want to wear loose fitting clothing but the purpose of the binder is to give you support. It also protects the incisions and for some acts as another level of security. I wore it for about 2 weeks after surgery. It didn't hurt at all and as a matter of a fact early on I was uncomfortable without it.

Re: Abdomen Binder

I'm clueless as well. I know what it is just don't wanna buy something and be stuck with it. Do hospitals rent them by chance?
I've had two csections. Is the pain about the same for the belly?
I was just going to get a pillow pet instead. Yes? No? Good or bad?

Re: Abdomen Binder

I woke up with one on. Based on my experience and other's that I have read as well that the hospital provides you with one.

Re: Abdomen Binder

I have had many stomach surgeries. My surgery tomorrow will make it 5 in the last 5 years.

I can say each hospital is different with binders. 1 gave me one and it was great. Another didn't offer one and when I requested one they only had one that was a size too small for me and didn't help me get another.

This surgery I am getting my own and getting the right size. You might want to call and see what your hospital does so you can get your self one if you need/want one. I prefer using a binder over not. It makes a huge difference in less pain when standing.

Re: Abdomen Binder

My Dr said just to request it at the hospital before surgery, that way the insurance will pay for it.
