If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

I had both ovaries removed. They were a bigger problem than my uterus :-( However, 4 yrs post op I feel amazingly better in so many ways!! I started HRT immediately. After about 8 mos of balancing hormones I started to feel much better. At the 1 yr point I knew it was a life changing positive experience :-)

I wanted the right ovary removed due to years of right side pain and many Ovarian cysts. It turns out my right ovary had a hemorragic cyst when surgery was done.
I kept my left to try and avoid menopause for a few more years, and its never bothered me!

Yes, I was able to keep both ovaries....just my uterus was taken....

I'm in my 2nd week of recovery from TAH and kept ovaries.

No. I had Endometrian cancer.....they took the Uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, the ovaries and lymp nodes. Wasn't a choice.

No. At 13 years post-menopausal, they were just little decorations in there. ReMOVE the possibility of ovarian cancer please? And thank you.

I had a TAH and kept both ovaries. Trying to avoid menopause lol. Thank u Jesus hahahaha

I kept one, and at 33, when I had the procedure done...I think it was the best option I am one of the women who was extremely happy with the decision and results that I have had Good luck to all!

Yes, I was able to keep both ovaries. My only problem was the scarring on inside of my uterus which caused fluid to build up & not drain. Im only 35 so doc wanted to keep my ovaries & after surgery he said they looked normal& healthy

I kept both my ovaries. I knew they would be "cysty" because I have PCOS and have previously had surgery for a torsed ovary in which they resected both ovaries. However, I know how to handle my PCOS and wanted to keep my ovaries so I kept making the doc PROMISE that he wouldn't take them even if they were covered in cysts, but would only take them if the appeared cancerous. Which they didn't, so I still have 'em!
