Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
I am a salon owner and a stylist I normally work 8 to 12 hour days. So NO I AM TAKING THE FULL 8 weeks off. I am 48 and not wanting to screw anything up, I do have a business partner and I told her in 2 weeks I will go in to do payroll, supply order, and pay bills, maybe fold towels . But that is it. I do work/stand on a highly padded Matt for legg fatigue but with GRAVITY working on me NO WAY. I WANT THIS HEALED CORRECTLY. I am not willing to sacrifice one more body part. Giblets are gone amen, but that it.

Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
I am having a TAH including ovaries on 5/30 (Wednesday) I work from home full-time (computer/phone). The doctor says I will be in the hospital 1 night and that if I feel up to it I could start back some work the following Monday.
I plan to take at least 2 full weeks to recover, then maybe 2 weeks of 1/2 days, then back to full time. However, my boss said he has had 2 employees in the past year that had that plan and they were both off for a full 6-8 weeks...so he is not too optimistic about my plan. Thankfully he has encouraged me to take the time I need to be healthy!

I had LSH on 5/17/12 and could not imagine going back to work yet.I'm planning on going back6/4/12 and even scared about that.Being up for more then 30 min I feel the sorenes and backache coming on,but everyone is different so you will just have Stewart wait And see.Unfortunatly,Stewart me sitting upright for long periods hurts just as bad as standing.

Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
I had my surgery on the 15th and plan to go back to work on the 1st of June. I am a knitting instructor and if I don't work, I don't get paid. And I need the money. I also really enjoy my work and I'm honestly getting a bit bored at home.
That said, I work only part time - 18-20 hours/week, only 4 days a week. Sundays are my longest day, but I'm never there alone and I have great customers who won't ask more of me than I can do.

Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
My doctor said I could return to work in 6 to 8 weeks. I chose 6 and I'll go from there. I was training someone to do light office work while I'm recuperating and my boss overhead me say that I would be back in six weeks. He quickly chimed in from across the room "Not if you're not healed!". That was so kind of him to say that, it took away any guilt I may have should I choose to take the extra time to return.

Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
I don't have to go back to work right away--mostly because I do not have a job right now. However, I do have a job interview scheduled for 5 days after my surgery! I was honest with them about the fact that I was having surgery and would be there even if I was moving slowly. I don't have a choice about not doing the interview (or rescheduling my surgery) because it is for a teaching job and school ends for them on June 6th and they want to see me before that. Argh. I guess worst case scenario is a phone interview. So that is causing me more stress than the surgery, but I really want this job. Yikes.
My main issue is that she is not sure she will be able to do the surgery laparoscopically or will have to do an incision based on the size of my uterus. I had my gall bladder out laparoscopically about 6 years ago and was back at work 5 days later, so I am hoping I can heal as well this time. Wish me luck!

Re: Anyone have to go back to work pretty fast?
I believe I will be taking 4 weeks but don't we have to take what the doctor approves us to take? In NJ we can apply for state disability ins...but according to what the doctor approves for us and I guess that will depend on what was done and what method.
But your "giblets" comment made me chuckle! ;o)

MsEduc8r- maybe this will help your nerves. I had a uterus the size of a volleyball. It was huge and my doc was still able to do davinci surgery. I was back at work 7 days later. Good luck and hope all goes as well for you.
