Re: What's a catheter like?

I had a cath for the 1st time with this surgery & it's wonderful! lol I was glad I didn't have to get up to go to the loo. They put in when I was asleep & when I woke up I didn't even feel it. I drank so much water in recovery so it was a blessing. You won't notice it, the only weird thing about it is not having the sensation to want to pee.

Re: What's a catheter like?

Hi there
I still have a catheter 10days post op. I cant stand it on the whole BUT....Truth be told it is great not having to go to the loo especially during the night and I have never drunk soo much water, that's gotta be great for me! Straight after my op I didn't even know I had it till they told me and was up walking within a few hours, and showered next morning.
I live in NZ so maybe we do things a little different but mine was taped to my thigh as not to move and then I had and still have a small bag that is strapped to my lower leg. No one would ever know I had one. While I was in Hospital 3nights I would have a night bag attached which is larger and that just sat on a wee stand. Its really not too embarrassing and fingers crossed it will be out before you even have time to let it bother you.
All the best
