When will I go into menopause?

Is it true menopause comes earlier to women who have hysterectomies? I had mine last month and so far my ovaries seem to be doing well. I just turned 36 and my mom went through menopause at 47 and my sister went through menopause at 46, so if my hysterectomy causes my natural menopause to occur sooner, I would think it could be right around the corner for me.

I have also heard that menopause may come earlier but I don"t know if that is a scientific fact. Your Dr can do a blood test to let you know if you start experiencing symptoms.

Thanks for asking about this Abagayle. I am 37 and had my hsyterectomy last year. My doc said the same thing - menopause will start earlier. I was also thinking "Well if I don't have periods anymore, how will I know?" I am trying to live as healthy as I can so that I don't have any bad symptoms.
