Angry - How Long Does This Misery Last?! How Long Does This Misery Last?!

I am more than 3 years post-op. The doctor took EVERYTHING -- no ovaries, no cervix, no fallopian tubes and no uterus left. For various reasons, I can't use HRT. To date, my hair has thinned, my eyebrows are gone, I've been diagnosed with osteoporosis and my joints are giving me a fit. I'm only 58 years old! Lately, the hot flashes have become brutal. On top of that, I simply cannot sleep at night. I'm lucky if I get 4 hours of sleep, tops. I thought, after 3 years, this would subside. Anyone else having similar issues after all this time?

Re: How Long Does This Misery Last?!

I came on today to see if anyone else was having these issues. I too am over 3 years out and they took everything. I was on HRT until a few months ago and now I am back having hot flashes (although they are a bit different from pre-surgery) but I'm having trouble sleeping at night because one minute I'm hot and the next I'm cold. Some bloating, I don't know if that's part of it, fat and lazy. I'm wondering if I should try to go back on. I wasn't having any problems on HRT it just happened that I changed insurance which meant a new dr. and I just haven't followed up with a new one. Anyone have an thoughts on this?

I had complete hysterectomy with everything gone 23 months ago. At one point my Dr. took me off of hrt due to increase in pain from most likely the endo. , but almost immediately I started with the hotflashes, joint pain, vaginal dryness, sleep problems,etc..... After a month he put me back. I saw a new GYN in March and she said that
I would need to be on hrt for a very long time.l So I would see the new Dr. as you very well might need to be on the hrt still. Good Luck!

How Long Does This Misery Last?!

So sorry ur having such a hard time, i had same surgery almost a year ago but am able to do hrt, lifesaver! I was wondering if you can take over the counter estroven? No real estrogen in it but supplements to ease ur symptoms, ask ur dr first, also due to ur hair loss & no eyebrows, have you had ur thyroid levels checked? Mine is low and i lose hair n eyebrows if im not on thyroid hormone, just a thought that may help you, good luck !!
