Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Hi all. I've been a busy beaver like usual. Thursday i went out and weeded two gardens. Thankfully it had just rained so the weeds came out with no effort. Friday was just a lazy day around here. I cleaned and did laundry like I do everyday so nothing new there. Yesterday, my kids and I went to their car wash for church. I washed cars with the kids until my back started hurting so I sat out the rest of the time. I was shocked that we had a $100 car. Yes, God is good! A man actually gave us $100 to wash his car. I did roughly 6 cars with the help of the teens to help. I took a 3 hour nap yesterday afternoon because the insomnia has been terrible. Lately, I've been getting maybe 2 hours of sleep at night. Last night, even after a 3 hour nap, I slept from 2200-0630 this morning. WOW, I feel great this morning. We are fixing to get ready for church and head on out. I'm getting a little antsy as I go back to the doctor on 11 June and should be released to go back to my kids at work on 12 June. This has been a long road and I'm ready to get back on my horse and back to work where I am supposed to be. Everyone at church keeps saying, "oh you're gonna be tired when you are in your 70's." Ok. But they fail to realize that I'm only 31 and am finally able to live a pain free life that I haven't had in 14 years!
I hope everyone is doing well. I'm so glad to see so many of ya'll getting out, even for just a few minutes. The fresh air does the body good as does a change of scenery. Its very encouraging to hear that everyone is healing well and we are all doing great with the minor hiccup here and there.
Take care everyone. Have a great Sunday!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Good morning ladies -
I am so glad I found this site pre-surgery. It helped set my expectations before surgery and is kind of a barometer for healing progress.
My biggest issue right now is swelly belly. I actually weigh a bit less than I did pre-surgery but had to buy some pants 2 sizes bigger for going back to the office (desk job) next week. At least working from home, I was able to wear nighties or lounge pants. I know I'll be able to get into my regular clothes eventually. Good for those of you who can already!
I hope you all have a good day.

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Happy Sunday Sisters!!!
Just wanted to give a little update on my progress. Yesterday was my first day behind the wheel. I was a little nervous but it went well. There was a Relay For Life Relay yesterday. My sister is a SURVIVOR as like many of you. Me being a proud sister decided to walk. The relay was held at a high school track. So I walked around the track 1 1/2 times and sat down the rest of the time I was there. I was very proud of myself for accomplishing that walk. I haven't been feeling up to par completely yet but just to get out and participate was an accomplishment by itself. No for the down side, today everything hurts. My back, my groin and my legs. I'm going to lay in this bed all day long. Couldn't get a good nights sleep but I will get a good days relaxation.
Oh yeah, here is my funny. While I was walking I began passing gas and have been doing it all night. I have been in pain at those moments but not anymore.
I know the walking was worth it for me and for everyone who is a survivor and those we have lost.
Have a beautiful day sisters!!!!

 ladies,
It sounds like many of you are starting to get out and do more fun stuff with family and friends. That is wonderful, but I'm glad to read that you are taking it slow and listening to your bodies when it's time to stop and rest.
Here are some

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
I understand. It is hard for my family to understand that I can feel good for awhile and be totally exhausted the next. My husband was AMAZING for the first two to two and a half weeks. Now at almost four weeks it much more difficult.
Good luck!!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Brc, I too was on Bactrim for a UTI since 5/19. I was done taking them and went in to see a Dr. for what I thought was swollen neck glands. She stated that it was actually strained neck muscles and ran tests. I started with low grade fever then a couple of days later it spiked to 102.2. My own Dr. reviewed my tests and it was found that the UTI was still there. Started on Cipro - no more fevers but still felt shaky last night.
Today I'm just resting. Yesterday I socialized at the community garage sale and bought a couple of items that were delivered to my door, walked the dogs several times, drove for the second time while running some quick errands, and was ready for a nap. I took one, but it didn't feel like I slept at all. I decided to postpone my drive to visit my Son till next Sunday, so I can have a few more days of driving before the longer drive and outing time.
Hoping everyone is doing well and getting some rest.
I can't believe it will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. Time is flying.
Thank you for all your posts. I agree, who could we discuss all our personal issues with on FB. HS is the best. Other than with my H, I have never been able to discuss any of my personal life, as I have here with all of you. I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL TO ALL YOUR SUPPORT! Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Newpebbles- I completely relate!!! I am a single mom of a 6yo. I had help from my mom for almost the 1st 2 weeks (DD stayed at Gramma's house). I was very grateful for that, but there wasnt anyone helping me with stuff at my house-laundry, dishes, etc. I had a wonderful friend who stopped by with lots of homemade food (lasted almost a week) & great snack foods- yum! She & 1 friend that is 1500 miles away were the 2 people who seemed to "check in" on me the most. I think my mom decided that when SHE had had enough of my daughter & kiddo came home- it meant I was DONE HEALING. My mom & I are both nurses, but she hasnt done any clinical kind of work in decades. She feels like minimally invasive surgery means no recovery time. Where we live its rare to use a trash pick-up service so I typically would bring my mom's trash to the landfill when I would bring mine each week. Do you think she got my trash, or even brought her OWN? Of course not! My neighbor brought mine twice during the 1st 2wks post-op & Ive been bringing it myself since then. My mom (a young, active 71yo) hasnt brought hers at all- been sitting there waiting on me to do it since May 8th- the day b4 my surgery. She is having the cover taken off her pool this coming week & expects me to get it all clean & balanced. Told her abt how tired I was yesterday & she said I was "just depressed". Ok, if Im depressed, then why are there sharp pains inside my vagina? Oh ya, healing from a major surgery. I hope you are more successful at getting YOUR family to understand what you have gone through &are still goimg through. Big to you sister!
Lil baybee- Great job at the walk!!!! Think of all the people who havent had any kind of surgery done who didnt do ANY walking at all.
Recovercat- You work would HATE ME- I refuse to go buy any real clothes any bigger than I already needed before surgery. Yes, I too still have swelly belly, like most of you, esp at the end of a "busy" day. I have been living in "yoga pants" (i dont do yoga) &jammies since the castle. I would just find my "nicest jammies" and wear them into work lol (then again when I was working I wore scrubs- which are pretty much just jammies anyway)
Jackabee- how wonderful that you had the $100 donation @ the car wash! What a great blessing. I bet the kids were super excited about that! I totally agree with you about the fresh air doing our bodies good!!!!
For our sisters fighting temps, infection, rashes, & other "added miseries" my heart goes out to you all. I hope you & your doctors have figured things out &you are able to get back on track with feeling better. (I think I may have a UTI developing, like many of you. Had my cath in til just shy of 1week post-op. Had low grade temps the last 48hrs, & really tired. No other symptoms that are typical for a uti, but last surgery I got a really severe one & only symptom I had was the fever. I'll be calling my doc 2moro probably.
Its been a rainy, dreary weekend here, but I hope you all are enjoying some nice weather & able to be outside... Except stop doing all that work in the gardens!!!
Big to you all!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Oh ya, Apilo- I agree- amazing it's been almost 4 wks since surgery for all of us. Some days I feel like it was just a bit ago, others I feel like its been a long time. Sorry to hear you still have the UTI, but glad to hear you got a new antibiotic for it. Keeping my fingers crossed it'll work better.
Yes, talking with all of you has been such a great source of comfort- even if Im not replying. I love hearing how everyone is doing & each of us sharing tips or successs along with any setbacks. I, like a few others posted, too keep looking to "click the like icon" with what I am reading from you all. Or, I've even caught myself saying things outloud like "oh no, poor thing" or "oh ya, same thing happening here" . I think my friends I actually speak with (vs only online) are very happy I have all of you to "talk with"- the non-nurses dont want to hear anymore about female anatomy & the ones that are nurses are thinking "ok, its time you should be healed & moving on" (please note- none of them work in women's health).

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
Hello sisters, it's been a few days since I posted, but all is well. Made the 12 hour (split into two days) drive for our move and did all the driving myself. I actually felt fine but when I started getting tired and sire, stopped for the night. Still having pee issues and can't go if I try to wait or my bladder gets too full, so I am still having to cath in the mornings and after naps. A little nervous because I have had a UTI then bladder infection and my last antibiotic is tonight. I sooo don't want to have to find a new doc right away, but will if needed. Today I have been exhausted, but I think it is just a let down of the last 4 busy days of movers, driving, etc.. it is so nice to be back "home" in Colorado and around much more family for support. Glad to hear we are all improving and hopefully we will continue on this path. This will be a memory soon (even the pee thing for me) soon.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates May 07-May 13,2012
My company family summer party was today...at our triple A baseball field (Indiana doesn't have a MLB team). Great game, great temps, good food (No one had to cook). We stayed til I threw in the flag at the 6 inning. We used my Aunts handicapped parking pass again-always helpful.
Home now and am SWOLLEN and right side achy. ARG
I still struggle at sitting up straight for long stretches.
Makes me concerned as I have my first full day scheduled tomorrow. (I am on the books two days this week. Mon and Thurs) I did a 5 hour day last Weds and was tired, but pain free.
The steroid is greatly helping my rash, though I feel it makes me a little shaky.
