Re: Acrylic nails?

Yes, they only ever need to check your nails in an extreme emergency, so many health care providers would be content to rely on machinery that checks your oxygen and circulatio levels. some are old school..

Re: Acrylic nails?

i just asked the intake nurse about nail polish and she said that no one cares about it or "fake nails" anymore. i am going to be safe and not do them until after as a "treat".

Re: Acrylic nails?

They said on phone to remove mine. Have green tips. I said no. The anethisiaolisigt didn't say a word about them. When I said they told me to take them off she was like gosh no they are fine. I think you'll be fine. Good luck!

Re: Acrylic nails?

I am scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and have acrylic nalis. I just reviewsd my pre-admittance paperwork and the box for no nail polish was not checked...nothing about acrylic nails listed.

I have decided to take off my nails...better safe vs. sorry. I am heading to the nail shop next.

Best wishes!!

Re: Acrylic nails?

Wow...I sure hope that my doctor likes my french manicure gel nails... My nails hurt so bad when there is nothing on them. Maybe I will concentrate on that pain and everything else will be ok...hahaha. Good luck to all and I sure hope we all keep our nails! I am willing to take off toe polish!

I had surgery on 5/29 with bright red toes and french manicure gel nails. Nobody even mentioned it!

Acrylic nails?

I was told "no polish" and I have also been wearing acrylics for years. I had a french manicure done..the nurse prepping me questioned the acrylics but in the end just let it go. Years ago nail polish was am issue as they wanted to b able to see color of the nail beds. Hope this helps....

But, right now I have red acrylic nails - not polished but with a red acrylic powder. Since I'm not sure why they don't like you to have nail polish, wondering if this is okay.

I'm sure this has got to be one of most lame questions every asked on here, right?

Exactly what I fear! I talked to someone yesterday who'd had surgery of a different type and they only had her take off a couple of nails since they just needed one finger!

I haven't called the doctor yet as I'm waiting until I make sure I have any other pertinent questions that can't wait until the pre-op visit. I'm not due to see my doctor for pre-op talk, registration and any pre-op tests until the 18th, two days before surgery.

The upside is she will have just come off a three week vacation and should be refreshed and well-rested

Re: Acrylic nails?

I too am an acrylic nail wearer. I took mine off. I don't want anything to cancel my surgery. I figure I can go back in a couple of weeks and have them done. But, if my doctor says that I can have them, I will be going to the nail shop after my preop appointment!!!
