6 week follow up

I am noticing a lot of posts about follow ups in the first few weeks. My first post op is at 6 weeks. My dr. said that is standard for my but don't hesitate to call if needed.
Is 6 weeks way out of the norm?

Re: 6 week follow up

My doctor had me come in yesterday for a 3 week follow up and then I have to come back in 3 more weeks. I was surprised he wanted me in at 3 weeks and then I saw other posts about 1 and 2 weeks post ops. Even though I had a 3 week appt I still have to go by the "nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks" rule. I think that 6 weeks is actually about average. Each doctor seems to have his/her own way of doing things.

Re: 6 week follow up

I have to agree with future_rn, I think it's just each physician's choice. At my preop appt she told me that I would be seen at 2,4, and 6 weeks.

Re: 6 week follow up

Yeah it seems every doc is different. Mine at preop said he would see me @ 2 weeks and then right after surgery decided he wanted me to come in @ 1 week. If I hadn't developed other issues my next visit would have been @ week 6.

Re: 6 week follow up

I have a follow up appointment scheduled today that was 6.5 weeks out. I have seen my dr twice and the NP once because I had slight complications. I had to go home with a cath because I could not pee on my own, I developed a hematoma and then a yeast infection. I am doing well now and hopefully be cleared to do everything at my appointment today.

Re: 6 week follow up

I was seen at 2 weeks post op and was surprised when my doctor said he'd see me next year for my annual. He did say I could call or come in if I had any questions or concerns.

I had the same experience. My surgeon was an oncologist/gyno, and not my regular doctor. He saw me at 2 weeks, and that was it. I think I am going to make an appointment with my regular gyno just for piece of mind.
