Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Ive been dealing with "Sacroiliitis" or Sacroiliac joint dysfunction for months now, since my diagnosis of Breast Cancer. The pain is beyond excruciating! They are still trying to rule out Bone metastases with me, but the Orthopedic person told me this is what is going on without a doubt- if there IS bone cancer involvement, its IN ADDITION to the SI joint dysfunction.
ALL the sx's- the shooting pain up into the pubic area, into the buttock, the rectum, down the leg, groin area, and back to front-- it "travels" around -- the pain is always worse after sitting for a while. ALWAYS. No cure- just pain meds... Its the MOST pain Ive ever been in, in my entire life. Even when I had Endo and fibroids and periods from hell that I lived on blood transfusions for every month. Id trade ALL of that to have it back for what Ive suffered with AFTER my TAH/BSO. ALL of it.

Re: Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Hello,
I am sorry to read what you've gone through and now having to deal with SI Joint pain. It is truly an excruciating & unrelenting pain.
I've been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease, SI Joint arthritis/dysfunction, facet joint arthritis, spinal stenosis...everything & anything the bone scans and MRI's can pick-up. That all started with a poorly done total knee replacement that through my hips and back out of line. I'll be having a total knee revision done in the Fall. To help with the pain, until this miserable knee gets fixed, I bless my chiropractor and acupuncturist every day. I do need to see the chiropractor weekly and the acupuncturist monthly but it has kept me from going crazy with all this pain.
I hope you can find those wonderful alternative medicine providers!
Take care and please keep us posted.
Diana

Re: Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
How about Physical Therapy? The multiple doctors I seem to get sent to cant decide exactly what is going on with my back, one time it is an SI joint issue then its spinal stenosis, now its some other joints along with the stenosis and scoliosis they think, but they all send me to the PT. The first time I went for an SI issue, it worked great, but came back. Still battling back pain and wondering how much is in the back and how much is caused by my menstrual issues. PT does help for a time, at least gives me some relief. Do see a chiro as well and have tried accupuncture. I didn't like the accupuncture, but others swear by it. Still trying, but like you have to take daily pain meds which I hate. Worth a try to see if it helps. My theory is anything for a shot to be semi pain free.

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Ohmygosh! I wonder if this is what I have? On May 20th, after kneeling down to pray, I noticed pain in my right knee., that stayed w me.
I was wearing skinny jeans and thought I must've picked up a staph infection, even went to the ER, convinced of it but blood and x-ray tests came back negative. That pain lasted 2-3 weeks I could barely walk or stand. After the 3 weeks noticed the pain that disappeared moved to my upper thigh, into my rib and elbow. Seems it was affecting my joints but what about my rib? Weeks now have passed and I can still feel some discomfort, also noticed my affected knee has gotten narrower than the left knee.
The excruciating pain is gone but feels vulnerable and weak. Also have to mention it burns on the inside of my knee. Even the sheets on that skin make it too hot.
I don't know how to get this diagnosed. I have have endomitriosis. And surgery coming up in July to check for ovarian cancer..

Re: Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Hi dianar, (I'm a Diana too!)
Please go see an orthopedic surgeon. The pain could be originating from your back, your hips or you have a problem with the knee. With your upcoming surgery, it is imperative you get those symptoms checked-out. The last thing you need are any complications of your surgery, related to your symptoms.
Please take care and let us know how you do...

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Hello Diana (too)!
Thanks for your reply, I've had X-ray and tons of blood work. Working fast to get a diagnosis before surgery in two weeks but nothing so far?
My theory now is; its either a virus that attacked my joints and is gone now (like an ER doc mentioned) or it's estrogen related. and must say ive had 'cancer head' the past few days, especially after reading the other hys-sis posting.
I'm still going to keep trucking along to find a diagnosis but w out infection in blood or X-ray proof I don't see how I can justify putting off the surgery, especially when cancer is at question..even weeks matter.

Re: Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Hi,
I don't blame you for not wanting to put off surgery. I was diagnosed with atypical severe complex hyperplasia; hence my TAH/BSO, 10 years ago. Thank God, I was cancer free but it was a very close call.
Have you seen an orthopedic surgeon or are you being treated by your primary care doctor?

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
Diana, no haven't seen an orth surgeon. My health insurance denied my request, along w my bone density test. I have to apply for an appeal (which I have) then wait for a hearing. Unfortunately I don't think it'll happen before the surgery.
