Smile - what ever you do, just don't make me laugh!!!!!- 2 weeks post surgery what ever you do, just don't make me laugh!!!!!- 2 weeks post surgery

Hi all. goodness does laughing hurt. Had full removal of all parts during abdominal hysterctomy due to many fibroids. - Alos mother had ovarian cancer - late stage 3 10 years ago ( and is still doing remarkably!). i had a 15 cm fibroid which was attached to outside wall of uteris, and another ziseable one attached to inside of uteris making the uteris 15 cm as well plus additional smaller fibroids.

I asked MD to take pictures of the fibroids and she did - both fibroid outside and uteris with fibroid attached were similar in size - both 15 cm. She first thought that she would have to do a vertical incision, but decided last minute to try horizontal under belly incision. She said that after first cut and clamping open, the incision wasn't large enough to get access to the large fibroid, so she had to unclamp, and recut a little wider. I am told that DR. had to remove the large fibroid first on it's own, cut off blood supply to it and then once removed, could remove the uteris with the other fibroid attached on the inside. I am told this is why the pain in the sides of the incision were so sore for the first several days post op.

... I thought recovery was exceptional the first few days after the hospital, but then it slowed down and more pain has arisen inside my belly and laughing, and coughing, really takes a tole on me. I try and do an airy bark at the end of the cough which lessens the shock just a bit.

... I'll post a seperate note about peeing for those of you recently post op, cause I have an experience about frequency and words of support,... it regulates in time.

... I find that my coxic or tail bone is quite sore for sitting up in bed (which is how I had to sleep until the 2nd week - I am now able to sleep flat) and from watching tv, computer screens, trying to sit up. Sitting for long periods of time is not easy, I find that I end up slumping or sliding a bit. - Practice I guess.

... If someone would have told me I would have felt this good and had this much movement 2.5 weeks after surgery, on the 2nd day post op, I wouldn't have believed it. It really gets better.
