Re: Anyone else having problems with depression and other mood issues since hysterect

ladies

I was diagnosed with clinical depression and ptsd after my hysterectomy / bso. Luckily i had a counsellor who helped me prior to surgery with low grade non-medicated anxiety and depression.

Not all anti-d's work the same way for everyone. We went through 3 different ones before we found on that didn't give me bad side effects. I couldn't take the generic effexor xr but it was the original effexor xr that worked for me. Between the meds and counselling i have just started being able to cut my dosage due to getting through the major part of the depression after 3.5 years.

I did not experience a zombie state, i still had a full range of emotions but not the deep dark black.

I am not taking HRT because my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and the doctor thinks its best to try coping without HRT right now. The night sweats and hot flashes I have been dealing with pretty well even though they get bad sometimes. Its the depression and mood swings that are really bothering me. I often think I am the only one. Is there anyone else having these problems?
I too have the problems with depression and mood swings since my surgery. I am back on the hormones now, but there is a wonderful natural supplement my dr told me about and it does help some. It has the soy and black cohash but it has another ingredient called Lifenol and my dr gets a lot of feedback from patients and they say it does work. So I tried it and it really does help more than anything else. You can get it from vitamed Also natures bounty has a combination Fish/flaxseed and borage oil. It is the borage oil that helps with mood. You can take up to three a day with a meal. But if you are going to get that make sure you get Natures Bounty Brand because it is purified, I actually called the company about that. I hope some of this info helps.
Feel better.

Re: Anyone else having problems with depression and other mood issues since hysterect

im glad i read this thread

im on lupron, 3 month shot....2.5 months into the shot i was feeling GREAT..the last 2 weeks have been horrible...

i do have a psych doc and trying to work thru it..but im in a low of all lows...ive posted in other forums but my gyn checked my estradiol and it is still menopausal..

is it possible that the bad symptoms just took time to catch up to me?

i took the lupron for PMDD...and likei said, felt wonder for 2.5 mnths but then dropped to the lowest of lows the last (2) weeks...i thought the lupron was helping but now this..

and my psych doc has mentioned i may be bipolar

rw76, sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you can get everything evened out, so you're not stuck in the horrible side of things. Just remember there is help out there, and have hope. Make sure your doctors know of all your symptoms, so they can help you. It's tough to have to go through such highs and lows, so here's to good health returning to you.
Big hugs!!!
