Re: 40 and Hysterectomy- The Best is Yet to Come!

Thank you for your inspiring words! I turn 40 on July 11th and have been DREADING it! I was offered a surgery date of July 10th and refused! It is bad enough turning 40, but to spend my 40th birthday in the hospital having a hysterectomy just about pushed me over the edge. Your words have inspired me to look at this change in a positive light.

Hi ladies,

peppermintpeggy...I can totally relate to your post and am inspired by your outlook on life!!!

I turned 40 last July (2011) and threw myself a 40th birthday party and decided that I was going to take it on with a positive, the best is yet to come attitude!! I had no idea the way my year would have panned out back then. I had to have a hysterectomy in February this year and the road to recovery has been challenging to say the least. Yet today, I can honestly say that I am stronger and healthier, both physically and mentally, because of it. This was the best thing that could have happened to me at this point in my life and I am totally grateful that things worked out the way they did. It has been a true blessing and I am looking forward to celebrating the years to come pain free!!!

to you all!!!

Re: 40 and Hysterectomy- The Best is Yet to Come!

Hey y'all, I will be 40 in July and just had my hysterversary June 6th! I feel alot better since my hysterectomy, I was i permemopause early and my moods were awful and heavy periods, Wow I am so much better!! No more pads or all of that stuff, I had a complete hysterectomy! I have worse hot flashes b4 my surgery than after and God gave me a quick and painless recovery!! Almost a year later I had hot flashes again and gained weight and found that my estogen level was low so now I take 2 mg of esrogen a day and I am better, no hot flashes and I am retaining fluid but losing a bit of the weight! I am looking forward to celebrating my 40th birthday! I thank God I have come this far and I am blessed! Hey 40 is the new 20 right?? God Bless Y'all!!

Re: 40 and Hysterectomy- The Best is Yet to Come!

I thank God you survived!! Sorry you can't take hormones, I pray you get better with yout hot flashes and sleep. Sometimes after surgery sleep is interupted. I have trouble sleeping also, I have clinical depression and anxiety so I REALLY need the hormones! lol! I have a great hubby too of 15 1/2 years and I freeze him with the AC! Even though my hot flashes are not bothering me right now I am still hot! lol!!! hehehhehe! He is very supportive and so is my Mama! God gets me through it all. I am nummed about the weight and I am on Weight watchers but I haven't lost, just been a feew weeks, maybe lost a couple pounds. It's harder to lose at 40 and with hormones going crazy! lol! I just thank Jesus for my health! God Bless you!! Have a great summer!!

Re: 40 and Hysterectomy- The Best is Yet to Come!

I want to thank all of you for your words of encouragement. I go for my pre-op on the 25th of this month. I have been going through the heavy bleeding and cramps for years now where I would have a cycle every two weeks and it would change to having a cycle once a month a bleed for 7-10 days, so I welcome this hysterectomy with open arms and can't wait to divorce my ueterus. I have been going through crying spells and anxiety because it seems no one in my family is concerned. Reading this post puts everything in a different light for me and I thank you!

God Bless!
