Question - Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

Hi ladies

All has settled after my hysterectomy back in September 2011.

The dissolving sutures allergy seems to be settling.

Now I am having issues with Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.

I kept my ovaries after my LAVH & the the ovarian veins are incompetent!

Questions are: Does anyone else suffer with this?

Is it worthwhile for me to get a bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy(removal of both tubes & ovaries) to help?

Please let me know if anyone else has gone through this?

Re: Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

I know you wrote this a couple of months ago but it took me awhile searching this site to find someone else with the same question/issue I have. I was just diagnosed with this yesterday. I have been in pain since my hysterectomy 5 months ago. Some days better then others. Then when you mentioned an allergic reaction to the sutures I was really interested in your progress. They were thinking that is what I had as well.
How are you doing? Did you remove your ovaries & tubes? I am going to try a new medication to see if it will reduce the swelling if not I have to think about other ways of helping it. I have missed quite a bit of work because of this & I still am not back to my fast walking. Very frustrating.
BTW, I have been a lurker on here & love this site. I read it everyday after my hysterectomy & never felt alone. I found all my answers so never posted, plus I was in bed so much I was reading from my phone.
Hopefully you are still around. I would love to hear how it is going.

Re: Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

Hi
The allergy to the sutures has settled down now that they are dissolved completely. It took over 6 months ti resolve.
As for the pelvic congestion. It's still there. It's not just my ovarian veins that are incompetent but so is other internal pelvic veins.
I saw my vascular surgeon but there is no real fix. The other issue is that it is affecting my leg veins too. So I am wearing prescribed compression stockings. He suggested it may ease a bit when I go through menopause.
I still have my ovaries & have decided that I don't want more surgery for now.
Have you seen a vascular surgeon?
Sorry I can't give you much light on the subject.
Hope things improve for you xx

Re: Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

Well I was hoping you had good news. I'm not finding very good information out there regarding good outcomes either. I have not seen a vascular surgeon yet. I don't want any more surgery either but honestly I don't know how long I can stand the pain. When I'm in bed resting on the weekends so I can make it to work on Monday my life isn't what I want it to be. If there was a guarantee surgery I would do it. For now I am taking pain pills in the evening & will continue to do research.
thanks for replying. I wish you much good luck.
