excessive vaginal discharge, cmg test shows no urine

I have been having excessive vaginal leakage of fluid for quite some time now. I thought it was maybe urine, so had a cmg test done and no leakage was found. I had a total hysterectomy but kept my cervix. I can feel the small gushes of fluid upon sitting up in bed, laughing, and any sort of straining. It will gather while I sleep and when I stand up it comes out and can trickle down my leg on the way to the bathroom. If I look with a mirror i can see it coming from the vaginal area and if I bear down a little its clear and comes running out. I don't know where to go with this now, dr told me to try keegals for 2 months and its still a issue. If anyone has had this same thing I would like to know what they found out and in my 50s I never thought I would have to deal with this, as I always thought after menopause things were to become dryer there. HELP!

Re: excessive vaginal discharge

Have you read some of the fistula threads? It sounds a bit similar to what I and several others have had

I'm not familiar with a cmg test but after a quick google it sounds different to the tests we've had done to diagnose the fistula.

I had a CT scan with contrast dye called a Cystogram.

Wearing Poise or Depend pads will help alot

cmg test

Recently I had a cmg test as I have constant wetness there. It causes irriation sometimes so the dr gave me cream and asked me to come back in two weeks and the goal was to keep the area dry there.. well the cmg test showed no leaking what so ever which was so shocking to me, cause where was this wetness coming from, I assumed it was urine. I am now realizing it to be thin cervical mucus that will build inside and when I get up at night or in the mornings my pajama bottoms get soaked. I can't go anywhere without a serenity panty liner, as its too much for a regular panty liner. How much is too much in vaginal secretions and have been putting up with this a very long time, I had a total hysterectomy, but kept my cervix. If anyone has any suggestions as to this being normal or what it could be I would love to hear from you. My dr told me to try and do kegals 3 x a day for 2 months to see if it would improve, and its been 2 months and its still the same. I feel Like I have peed my pants all the time from the wetness I have there. I thought my pad days were over.

Re: excessive vaginal discharge, cmg test shows no urine

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this.

Since you kept your cervix, you actually had a partial hysterectomy. And having the cervix means you could be dealing with cervical mucus issues.

Are you using HRT? Possibly the issue is related to hormonal imbalance.

Also, emotional stress can cause excessive cervical mucus and a hysterectomy can be pretty stressful!

Other reasons for abnormal vaginal discharge are bacterial vaginosis (BV), yeast and other infections, and STD's. I would assume your doctors have checked for all of those but you might double check.

Have you gotten a second opinion about what might be causing this problem for you?

in there!

watery vaginal discharge anyone?

I have posted before and hope someone can give me suggestions once again. I had a hysterectomy coming up on 2 years now. I have excessive vaginal discharge when straining or just bearing down causes it to come out of the vaginal area, clear and and of egg white appearance and very watery. I am constantly soaked so have to wear a incontinence liner as reg panty liners aren't enough.

I had a test on my bladder as I thought maybe it was urine leakage and the test showed bladder function to be fine. I have been dealing with this for a few years and don't know how much more I can take of this. My doc told me to do kegals for 2 months every day and if that did not help to get back with him..well the two months are up and no change. I can't never go without a liner or my pjs or pants are wet.

If anyone knows if this is normal or has had anything like this I would love to hear from you, think I will call the dr back this morning, as I don't want to live like this, I am only 53 and thought my days of liners and pads were done. I also thought after menopause you were suppose to be more dry there, well NOT me. HELP!!

Re: watery vaginal discharge anyone?

Do you use any vaginal estrogen? I've had all sorts of issues until I started adding some vaginal estradiol. The vaginal tissue is much healthier now. I had issues with BV, yeast, and what I assume is leaky urine. Until coming onto this website, I had never heard about the need for localized estrogen for vaginal health. My Dr. never mentioned this at all. It's made a big difference for me.

Re: excessive vaginal discharge, cmg test shows no urine

I agree with E2M2. Vaginal estrogen may help. I had a clear discharge about 8 months post op. I also had pain and itching. It was atrophic vaginitis. I used Estrace cream for several weeks and then switched to Vagifem (the Estrace annoyed my bladder). I was on systemic estrogen at the time and still had issues. Things are much better now and I do not have to use the Vagifem on a regular basis.

Good luck!

Re: excessive vaginal discharge, cmg test shows no urine

I know this is an old post, but I'm sooooo happy I found it my discharge is creamy white like conditioner. It seems to just seep out most of the time, but during sex it comes out a lot, like a handful (sorry about the tmi) it makes me pretty self conscious. I also have itching sometimes. It isn't a yeast infection and with no uterus and no cervix I have no idea where it is coming from or what it is.
